What's the quickest way to get from JFK to Radio City Music Hall area? DD and a friend have an audition on West 56th St at 2:15pm on a Saturday (Jan 31) and they are thinking of taking a flight that gets into JFK at 12:10pm. I don't think that's enough time to get into the city, is it?

(I posted this on the Community Board, too!)

I agree with you. While it could work, too many factors can flare that won't make it work.

I have the Hop Stop App and it says the quickest way by far is a taxi, should take 48 minutes on a Saturday afternoon and cost about $52. Of course that is barring any traffic issues/late planes etc. LaGuardia is a lot closer, can they fly into that airport?

My DS moved to Manhattan a few months ago and this app is great for how to get around.

Not a chance in the hot place that I would cut something that close, especially something important like an audition for anything. It's possible to make it, but if there's even a small problem with whatever form of transit they pick to get into the city, it could really screw them up. Never mind the possibility of the plane being delayed for weather or whatever else.

Newark and LGA are a little closer. Radio City Music Hall isn't on 56th Street. Do you have the address or do you know the nearest avenue? Don't use Radio City as a destination when planning.

You also have the option of mass transit. Taxi is easier. I'd allow more time but it should work. Go with carryon bags. It's should be about an hour taxi ride, you have almost 2 hours.

I just picked RCMH as a general destination. They are headed for W56th between 6th and 7th. DD has done several training classes with the Rockettes, so when I didn't have the audition address handy I just used a general landmark for locating.

Change in plans has them staying overnight with family in Providence and taking the train into Grand Central, arriving at 10:40am. PLENTY of time!! However, audition ends at 5pm and they have a 7:30 flight from JFK (on Jet Blue, no luggage). I am crossing my fingers that they make the flight- can't decide on whether taxi or car service is faster. Hopefully traffic on 5pm on a Saturday is a tad more manageable than at 5pm during the week!!

Hopefully for them, the audition ends early. Cab (or car service) from midtown to JFK can easily run an hour. Security lines at JFK can be 45 minutes to an hour too.

If I were you, I would strongly recommend at least purchasing Even More Time so that the lines at security are nothing to worry about.
