I am going to Universal on Monday, 11/7. I will be driving from POP. Google maps says it is about 21 mins, but that is on I-4E.

From what I have read here, I should be at the gate 30 mins. early which would be 8:30am.

What time should I leave POP, to be sure I am at the gate by 8:30am? I have no idea how much traffic I will hit or if it will even be moving at that hour? :confused3

Thanks!!

I would leave no later than 7:30am in order to give yourself time to get parked and over to the park. I-4 is a beast at all times day and night...seven days a week. There's no telling if there will be an accident that would really slow you down. It's better to leave more time than to be late.

Thank you!! I was thinking 7:30 also, but just wanted to be sure that was enough time.:thumbsup2

It took me about 45 minutes al together when I drove from the all stars in July. Plus you can get into citywalk area way before parks open so if you end up there really early you can window shop. Also, universal often opens up a few minutes early so you might be able to get onto a few marvel area rides before official opening.

Before you leave you might want to check the traffic report for I-4 delays. You're going to be traveling during rush hour. There's an alternate route you can take- from the Disney main gate (near Downtown Disney), you can take a left on Apopka-Vineland Rd. and then a right on Palm Parkway. This road will lead you straight to Universal, parallel to I-4. According to Google Maps this route will take 28 minutes but you won't have to risk the traffic.

There could still be a lot of local traffic during rush hour times. This route might save a little time but there are traffic lights to deal with.

Ok, guess I will have both ready if needed and check the traffic report. Any suggestions for which radio station will have traffic updates?

All of the local radio stations have traffic reports. I listen to 105.9 at work and we hear traffic reports every hour until 10am.
