On Oct 9th (a friday) we plan to go to DHS for the morning, but have to be back at EPCOT in future world by 1:00 for a F&W demo. How long do you think I should allow for travel time?

I don't know how long it would take on one of the buses but when we were there last time we walked from DHS to Epcot. There is a walkway that leads you along the river thru the Swan and Dolphin resorts and then throught the Boardwalk/Yacht CLub, and Beach Club Resorts right into Epcot at the INternational Gateway. IT was a nice walk along a paved walkway. It took us about 20 minutes and we just walked at a normal pace.

I don't think there are buses from DHS to Epcot (but I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong). In any event, one can either walk or take a boat from DHS to the IG. The walk takes about 25 - 30 minutes. Add in 10 minutes at end to get through the IG and then walk to Future World and total travel time is 35 - 40 minutes. The travel time on the boat is about 30 - 35 minutes minutes. Add in wait time for the boat at DHS and then time to walk from IG to Future World and total travel time would be about 50 - 65 minutes.

The previous poster is correct that there is no bus service from DHS to Epcot. The friendship boats are the only transportation between these two parks. I agree you should allow about an hour. (That's not going to leave you much time in DHS. Is it at least an early EMH that day?)

The boat ride is about 30 minutes from the entrance of DHS to the International Gateway at Epcot (which is at the back of the park near France).

I got a bus from DHS to Epcot last week :confused3 It took about 5-10 minutes, so I'd allow 30 minutes travel time probably.

Ok, I stand corrected. I wonder when they started that.

Yeah I thought it was just boats until I went this time. We went to MGM one afternoon but upon seeing the THOUSANDS of church youth group buses (Night of Joy) we immediately looked to the boats, to find huge queues, so we then went across to find a park bus and saw an Epcot one there. I was very pleased to see it!

I was going to say... I took one a few weeks ago. It was closing time at DHS, though. The waiting area number was posted on the board.

Thanks for everyone's responses. I didnt know there was a bus. That would probably be the fastest, even adding in waiting time for the bus. I was thinking I would have to allow an hour and a half to travel between the two, but it looks like I could plan for an hour and be safe.

Gotta love the disboards!:disrocks:

I noticed in August that there is now a Magic Kingdom bus at Epcot. It used to be that the monorail was the only way to get between those two parks. I guess they've decided not to rely on any single method of transportation. (To be honest, at the time I thought that might have been an accommodate for those who were nervous about using the monorail after the recent accident. But it looks like it might be unrelated if they've added buses on the DHS-Epcot route, too.)

We took at bus from DHS to Epcot in '07, so it's not new. When we were there a few weeks ago, we did the boat from Epcot to DHS. Liked that really well. The bus took forever, the boats ran pretty regularly.

No matter WHERE you are going in WDW, I would plan 1 hour to get from place to place, JUST to be safe. If you have to get from one end of Epcot to the other, add a bit more time. Never hurts to be a little early.

I think your best bet is to start walking if a boat isn't at the dock, and you will have another chance to pick up the boat at the Swan/Dolphin dock. Worst case scenerio is you walk the whole thing, about 40 minutes if you're slow. You can also pick up the boat at the YC or BW.

There have been buses running between DHS and Epcot for quite awhile now.
If the OP has to be in FutureWorld, then a bus will be the best idea.
If you take a boat, from DHS to Epcot, it will take almost 30 mins to make the trip. Add in any possible waiting time at the dock..could be 1 min, could be 20. Or you could walk to Epcot/International Gateway, along the canal on the sidewalk. Very nice walk, will take you about 20 mins. I left the boat dock at Epcot at the same time a boat was leaving for DHS. I got to DHS long before the boat did...never saw the boat coming down the canal until I was a the bag check area.
But, if you do have to be close to the front of the park, a bus will be the quickest option.

It really depends more on how long you have to wait for the bus. Often times the bus ride is about the same amount of time as the wait for it to get there.

Whether it takes it, or not you should always plan on an hour to get anywhere at Disney. There isn't a bus from DHS & EPCOT. You have to walk to the boat launch 5-10 min walk depending), wait on the boat (0-20 min. wait depending) boat ride with 3 stops (approx. 20 min. ride +-) walk to destination (10 minutes +-) So 50-60 minutes give or take,

Actually, the walking path goes from DS to the Boardwalk and from there to Epcot; you do not need to walk all the way past the Swan/Dolphin or Yacht & Beach Clubs.
