Hi guys, Im looking for travel insurance, we fly out in June. Thing is, Ive checked on line for reviews of companies and cant find any good reviews with reasonable price! Im going with wife, daughter and daughters friend...which apparently increases the price :( Has anyone got anything good to say about travel insurance companies and any good reports, should a claim be made?

Thanks in advance.

Gary

It's going to vary from one person the next as to who is best, based on ages of your group, medical needs, etc.

After agonisingly eliminating the ones I wouldn't use after last year's ash cloud carry on, I had a couple of options. I went with Direct Travel. There is cashback on Quidco/Topcashback and they were cheaper than my previous insurer for better cover. We have no special needs, medical or otherwise. They were highly recommended on Martin Lewis' Moneysaving Expert site. I corresponded with them for some time before taking out the policy and was impressed by how thorough and efficient they were. I am using them again this year.

You do need to read all the fine print and terms and conditions though, as what is best for one, may not be adequate cover for the next person.

I don't think you will ever find a perfect insurance company, they all try to pay out as little as possible. I have recommended Insure and Go for years until the ash cloud came last year and got stuck in Florida, they wouldn't pay out a penny.
I am now with M&S, heard plenty of good reviews about them and they paid out for ash cloud but hope I don't need to use them to find out how good they are.
They are also a few £ cheaper than I&G.
