Hi

I think I might have a problem, and wanted advice. We ordered our April6 Magic cruise about 8 mos ago when my mom who has colon cancer was stable and being treated with chemotherapy. Well, now she's not so stable and is doing very poorly. It seems like we have 2 good weeks and then 1 or 2 bad weeks when it seems like her death is imminent. I have purchased travel insurance through the cruise (ordered it when I purchased the cruise). AFter receiving our documents, I looked at the "fine print" and there is a preexisiting condition clause, but it's confusing. There is a statement about if it was purchased when the person affected was Ok, that you will get your money back, but if it was purchased when the person was sick, sorry, no money. Does anyone have more details? I don't want to call the cruise line b/c they might flag our account to not pay it back b/c of the type of questions I'm asking. It's quite a dilemna. Of course our kids/my husband are super excited about the cruise in a month, but we won't go if she's very sick (of which there's about a 65% chance we'll have to cancel)...it's all very stressful for me as I'll have to be the one making the decision.

thanks for your help

amy

Many of the companies I looked at waived the preexisting condition clause if the insurance was ordered within 14 days of booking. I really don't know about the specifics of the Disney plan. Even within the 60 days, you can change your reservation. A cancellation results in penalities, a change doesn't have exactly the same rules. You could just rebook it for another week. You would have to pay the prevailing rates, I think. That still doesn't answer your question though, and I guess there is no telling what week would be a good week in the future either. Good luck to you. You have a lot on your plate right now.

what a tough situation,I really feel bad for you-I don't know the answer to your question but I also have the DCL insurance,so I will call them and try to get the answers to your questions.

I just got off the phone with DCL and it seems the pre-existing condition has a lot to do with if the person was"stable" when the insurance was purchased. I was told for complete info to call Access America(the company Disney insures through) Ph#1-800-573-5665 Mon-Fri 9-7(forgot to ask time zone) and give them DCL group #2043
I think you would be okay asking them all of your questions,I probably just wouldn't give them exact cruise date or name on reservation. If you want me to call and ask any questions for you just E-mail me and I'd be happy to help any way I can. Sure hope for the best for you and your family!

The thread did not bump up or post a new response when I posted a little earlier,so I thought I'd post one more time to make sure it was visible

Thank you very much disveteran. I really appreciate you helping me out. She was stable when cruise was purchased, so I would be able to get her very nice oncologist to write me a letter saying so. It makes me feel more comfortable now. I will call and be vague.

You're very kind!
