Travel insurance through DVC?

For those of you who have used and needed the insurance was it worth it?
We have a sick nephew (not going with us) and if we are not able to go on our trip how does this insurance work with our points for the reservation and airfare? ( we used Southwest points for airfare). Thanks for any info! I started to read the specifics about the insurance but I started to feel like I just got off Expedition Everest

They refund the dues on the points you lose, it doesn't save the points. DVC is typically pretty good about being flexible for family situations. To be honest, I would only consider the insurance if the stay is at the end of your use year.

if you use SW points for the airfare, they will return the points to your account if you can't go.
