Yes, from today. Then if anything happens between now and your trip you're covered, if you wait until the date of your trip and are unable to fly for any reason (touch wood not going to happen) you wouldn't be covered unless it happens on the date you're leaving.

thanks , first diy trip so already worried about insurance, post office rate highly for airline failiure and consequential loss ( which i believe is what i need )

I always do mine from the date we travel, we did talk about this back last year that if something happened we wouldn't be covered, think next time I need to buy a policy I will call to check it out.

If you buy a single trip policy you only put down the dates you are travelling, so surely it makes sense your annual policy should be from the same date?? if you book your holiday say 9 months before travel and buy an annual policy too chances are you will only get one holiday out of that policy, making it cheaper to get a single policy.

That's why single trip policies exist. We have always bought single trip, but this year we have trips planned for February, August and October so an annual policy makes more sense for us.
Sometimes an annual policy will work out cheaper if you have a family policy, it all depends on the insurer

there is not much price difference between the single trip usa policy and a premium family annual policy
