Travel insurance questions

I know this was talked about on the board but the search function isn't working. I believe someone found travel insurance from someone other than the person they booked the cruise through. I think it was a lot less expensive as well. If someone has any information about this I would greatly appreciate it.

I always book insurance through Travelguard www.travelguard.com They base the price on age and it is usually cheaper than cruiseline insurance but the coverage is better. Go to the website and they can give you a price quote right there.

AccessAmerica is the travel insurance company Disney uses. You can get a quote directly from them...(much cheaper than going through Disney) by going to their website @ accessamerica.com.

I went to the website some nice person here had posted about:

and got quotes from several different insurance companys, selected the best one for us, and did it all on-line! very simple.

After comparing at insuremytrip.com I went with csatravelprotection.com . I had to ask a lot of if, but questions and the agent on the phone seemed very knowledgeable. We had gotten the insurance through Disney in the past but decided to change because this will cover from the day we leave home till the day we get back...for a cheaper cost too.

I have been looking into this for our Dec. '04 cruise. We are booking through a TA that charges more than DCL for travel insurance, so I'm going to get it on my own. One thing I found out: if you buy through an insurance company, it is NOT refundable if you cancel your trip before penalties kick in. So I'm going to wait until I make my final payment on the cruise, two months out, before I buy the insurance. If you have pre-existing conditions (and I'm not sure what they are), you have to buy the insurance when you book the cruise for those to be covered. Diana
