I am just buying my travel insurance now, and I know people have said something about a pre-existing condition not being covered. Covered for what? Cancellation? Onboard medical treatment? Both? Can someone please explain. Thanks.

Not positive either, but I thought it meant if you have any problems during the cruise that could be related to anything mecially pre-existing the plan would not cover it.

you can look at the company's policy on-line and it will spell it out. basicly they will not cover (number of days prior to trip varies company to company and policy to policy) things you have seen your doctor for or been treated for. an example would be if you have a child who complained of ear pain prior to the cruise, you take them to the pediatrician who sees no sign of infection. you go on the cruise and the ear infection now shows up. they will not cover (existed prior to cruise).
most travel insurance companies will request medical records from m.d. to process claims. they look back at the period they have listed in thier contract. if you received a consult or treatment it is unlikely they will cover it.
don't let this stop you from getting travel insurance though-remember, a broken bone, appendix, anything unplanned out of your private health insurance's coverage area: can result in thousands of dollars in bills.
