My dad is going to Florida in may and hasn't got his travel insurance yet.
Unfortunately he has developed heart trouble in the past couple of months, but hasn't yet been diagnosed with a specific condition.
He is worried that he might not be able to get insured because of this, and if he buys insurance without declaring a problem then he won't be coverd if the worst should happen.
Can anyone advise me on what he should do,or suggest any decent travel insurers who deal with difficulties. :confused3

we used insureandgo.com we had our edest son who had a problem with an ingrowing toenail (i know its not as seriuos as a herat prob but a medicl one all the same)we checked out there web site and it tells you to phone if any mediical problems and they will then tell you how much it will cost it was no extra for us but i would not reqomend not telling as if anything happens that medical bill may run into the thounsands or more

I've posted before that we took travel insurance out with M&S and were delighted with the policy and service - we had to claim and had the cheque in our sweaty little mitts within a week :goodvibes
I had loads of replies to my post by people who had bought cheaper (it cost us £140 for a family annual annual policy, including business cover and no excess) but, I'm a great believer in 'you get what you pay for' ;)
Down to the serious bit. DH has a brain tumour which we've often had to pay an excess for 'just in case'. M&S didn't bat an eyelid when he called and they said that all was ok :cool1: .
Even if we'd gone down the road of calling the 0800 medical line number, which we normally do, we would have probably been given an excess to pay that didn't cover existing medical conditions - we were quoted £400 about 18 months ago by one company for cover., even though it didn't include anything that related to his tumour!! :rolleyes1
Give M&S a call, explain the problem and see what they say. One of the main issues tends to be if you are on a waiting list for anything :flower:

that's great!thanks for the advice, will pass it on to him.I did get a list of agencies off the british heart foundation website but they were pretty pricey. Will try m&s.

My husband had a heart attack last year (luckily we think it was just a warning) and we had real problems with insurance I was actually quoted over a thousand pounds to insure him. I eventually got him insurance for £50 for the holiday, the problem was not the heart attack but the fact that we were going to the States. We used Perry Gamble & Co (I have the number if you need it) you have to then phone their medical line who will ask you a few questions and then give you a number to give to the Perry Gamble you then give you the price.

Thanks for the advice,i think he has actually done it now, marks and spencer i think. Will find out how much he paid and then post it here, thanks again for everyones help.

I would love to know as if we decided to go again it could be a better deal than we got.

Have a great holiday.

Hi,
I know you have your travel insurance arrangements sorted but thought i would reccomend the post office for anyone else who is following this thread my son has cancer and they were brillant he was still undergoing treatment but the post office only charged a n extra 80 pound to cover him for his medical needs and that was really good compared to others !!!
We had to claim on it and we had the cheque within 14 days absolutly brill price and brill service. Highly reccomend !! :earseek:

That's great to know :sunny:
I know the post office can work out a little more expensive at times but, if they're good for difficult situations, that's fantastic
Toss up between the post office and M&S then ;)

still waiting to hear who he went with in the end, will post soon as i know!!
Post office deal sounds brilliant though, handy to know for future reference.
