Does anybody know what kind of discount you get at the park with a travel industry card? I called and was told that you got in for free. That just doesn't sound right to me.They said i could visit as many days as i wanted to.Anyone know for sure.I talked to 2 different people and both said the same thing.

I know that you get free admission if you are a travel agent or a bus driver on a schoool trip. You just show your ID at Guest Services.

As it happens, this is one of my few areas of expertise.:D

I assume by "travel industry card" you mean a travel agent ID card, perhaps like those you can get for $495.

Universal and other theme parks will give bona fide travel agents free admission one day a year. The catch is what they will consider a bona fide travel agent and, increasingly, flashing one of these ID cards won't cut it. You may also be asked for a business card (not to difficult to get).

However, my impression is that the supplier side of travel industry is becoming more savvy about what these ID cards really are and, in a tough economy, they are going to look long and hard at who they dole out freebies to.

Thus endeth my two cents.

Well I have a real card.I am employed by a travel agency and we have business cards. So i'm sure that isn't a problem.I know that you can buy fake cards which some places won't take.

Well, looks like I misunderestimated Universal's policy with regards to TAs.

I heard from a travel agent who tells me that she has used her CLIA card for multiple free admissions to the parks. She also confirmed that they ask for a biz card and make copies of all cards to keep with the paperwork they require.

So as long as you have a valid card and a business card, it looks like you're golden! Enjoy!

Thats interesting Kelly! Back before kids (dating myself here) I worked in an agency that was CLIA endorsed and all that did was get me great cruise deals! Guess things have changed.

Are IATA cards recognized anymore? At the time it was as you said one pass per year...what a difference.

You have to have either a IATA or CLIA card along w/ business card for a 1 day free admission. Not sure if you can do it multiple times a year or not?

I work as a travel agent in London. I had to call ahead and they checked the details of my agency. I then had to take a business card along with ID (I took my passport). This entitled me to a free 2 day pass, and I can get one of these each calander year apparently. You can also get travel industry rates at the USO Hotels :D

When did you go to universal.I called and was told that I could get a free ticket for one day good at both parks.I would love a 2 day pass thats how many days we are planning on going there.

What about people who work in the airline industry. Can they get free admission with their airpot/airline ID. My hubby works for the airlines and we have never heard of this, but maybe he is missing out on something he is entitled to.

Does anyone know if this appliies to airline employees too?

It may be different for UK travel agents, possibly because our clients usually travel to Orlando for at least a 2 week stay

Ok, to set the records straight......I was just there in December, as long as you have your IATAN card and company business card, you can get a free pass everyday. There is NO LIMIT of days that they give to agents, unlike Disney, which makes the incentive to go to Universal that much more. All I did was go to the ticket window, show my IATAN and business card and I was set, it was really great. I have no idea about airline employees though.....I would suspect that wouldn't apply since they don't actually sell travel, but I could be wrong.

Harmony29,

They never even questioned you? That's great if we can go more than once. I was going to try to cram everything into 1 day! But since we'll be buying the 2 Day pass for my boyfriend maybe that won't be a total waste if I can get in for free an extra day!

Yep, no problem at all. I did IOA one day and then did US the next. I even verified it, you can go everyday if you want to. They just take your name, copy of the IATAN card and a business card. So no need to cram everything into one day. I think their policy is really awesome.

Well thats great to know.I called them about 2 weeks ago and was told that you only got a one day pass. Before that I called and was told that you got a pass every day.Go figure I guess they really don't know which policy to follow.I like the unlimited pass.We were going to do both parks and free is great. Can you hop from park to park with those tickets
