My friend and I are planning to visit DL in June of next year. We are from the East Coast and are not familar with Southern California. We wanted to know if there were any special events or reasons we would not want to visit in early June. My husband and I visited August 21-28 and found DL busy but managable. We were able to do everything we wanted. How is early June compared to late August as far as busy.
Thank you.

1. Credible rumors report that Pirates of the Caribbean will be down for refurb March 6–June 16. You may want to work around that date. For me and many others, POTC is just not to be missed.

2. Credible rumors also report that "Rock It Mountain" will open in June sometime (nothing more specific than that). Rock It Mountain will be the night version of Space Mountain, with modified sound and lighting.

3. In June DLR has "grad nights" where high school seniors get in from something like midnight to 6AM. I did this many years ago when I graduated from high school in SoCal. The grad night schedules disrupt things like Early Entry and, sometimes, park hours. I believe that this year grad nights finished in mid-June. Early June will be prime season for grad nights. I do not think this would impact your trip except for possibly Early Entry cancellation and reduced park hours.

4. In June park hours are still limited. DLR maxed out park hours this year starting July 1 for the summer season.

5. Many Annual Pass holders have blackout dates in July and August, but not really in June. I think the AP blackout this summer started around June 28. Hence the AP folks try to get in their DL visits before the blackout starts, which can increase crowds towards the end of June.

6. SoCal schools tend to get out in mid-June. Crowds will increase a bit after that.

Thank you, that is valuable info. I would not want to miss POTC and I would want to avoid grad nights.
