Just looking around for Universal tickets for 2014, the 2 park bonus ones. Travel City Direct seen to be the cheapest so far. Has anyone booked through them at all?

Planning for February to try and beat this cooling weather blues, lol x

I think you have to book your holiday thru them to buy tickets but not certain, you will have to check.
If you can buy them then they are Virgin Holdays so no problem for reputation.

Wayne is right, they can only be purchased alongside a package booked with them.

The others are right it's a holiday package website so can only get tickets if you book a holiday with them, we have booked our holiday with them for next year.

Thank you for the replies. What a pest, I thought they were a bit too cheap! Might phone ba and see whether they can price match as we booked our package through them x Thanks guys x

Try BA but I wouldn't worry too much, they are not that cheap, other sellers are very similar(with enough searching probably find same or a price match) For eg. TCD are doing the 2 park Uni ticket at £99, TravelRepublic who I have used last twice are £100, only £1 difference.

Those are 2013 prices though, aren't they Wayne? For 2014 tickets, the price seems to have risen quite a lot on the other sites.

Sorry, I only looked at this year, next years won't be discounted yet, expect lower prices nearer the time (unless you can get tied in at lower prices now)

I think that's precisely the point the OP is trying to make - TCD are offering the 2014 tickets for £105. That appears to be a good £15 cheaper than most other sites at the moment.

Thanks again. Yes, the prices for 2014 do seem much higher and TCD were much lower than the others. Hopefully they will discount nearer the time. BA have surprised me with price matching in the last 12 months for add ons so might get lucky! Will hold out a while yet x Thank you x

Meant to ask Wayne, are you loving a Educating Yorkshire? You must be in spitting distance?!?

Really enjoying it but as always with this type of show they don't show the full story, although there are still a few shows to go yet. Upto a few years ago it was in the bottom 5% of schools in the country, last few years they have really turned it around and is an excellent school, Matt was head boy there and got 15 GCSE's all A*, A or B, we couldn't fault the school.
Distance from our house is 1 mile or from my shop its 0.5 mile. I keep seeing some of the kids from the show walking around.:rotfl2:
Matt knows most the teachers featured, trying to get interviews arranged with some of them for The National student who he is writing for.

I'll have to ask Matt for his autograph on the cruise next year then, DD is hooked:rotfl2:

:offtopic: Sorry OP :)

Saw Mr Mitchell this morning, he past my shop with a bottle of milk and a jar of coffee, smiling away to himself. :lmao:

We are hooked on EY too. Love the caring nature of the teachers and how they handle the problems. Not surprised Matt said he was proud to say he went there.

Wayne I'm a teacher so am not shocked or horrified by anything in the show ... Quite the opposite in fact. I think they come across as caring and incredibly professional. It certainly doesn't present with the level of challenge in terms of behaviour that I am used to dealing with and their commitment to results shines through and speaks for itself when they show the results the students achieve at the end if each programme.

It must be a whole different story watching it and knowing the characters!!!!

We have been following Twitter after each show, 99.9% of comments praising the show & the teachers.
Locally I have tried to get a little feedback from my customers, opinions are split here, some feel its not showing a true reflection of the school but the biggest negatives are coming from the older generation (70+) they can't believe schools are like that, most say they are just playing to the cameras. I get comments like "children wouldn't dare speak to teachers like that"
They just have no idea what a modern High school is like, they are stuck in the days of the cane, slipper, & clip around the earhole, I know a few saw the first show and won't even watch anymore, they just want to bury their heads in the past.
The school has its problems but it has excellent teachers, any child that wants to achieve will, any that needs help they will try their best to look after them, Its not a perfect school but is there such a thing in a community like ours? I doubt it.

I hear you. I was surprised that they were allowed to focus on individual students as much as they do. I wonder if it might be slightly exploitative as they probably think it's funny now but in a couple if years time it may come back to bite them in the bum. I think it's great!

There is a part of you as a moral citizen that does wonder why there is behaviour / language / attitudes like that in schools but that is a reflection of society. It takes all sorts! There is no way in my school 20 years ago and 10 miles down the road from Thornhill that we would have experienced behaviour anything like what we see on the show but again what's on the show is nothing compared to what is happening many inclusive comprehensives.

When teachers say their job is tough and people mock and mention the holidays yawn yawn, it's good for the doubters to watch programmes like EY and realise actually it is physically, mentally, emotionally and intellectually draining. Very rewarding as well but at times very challenging, stressful and thankless x
