We landed home yesterday morning at Gatwick, after a great two weeks, we went with our two children and my parents now this was our 8th visit, we have travelled once with Monarch (!!!), 6 times with virgin - last twice PE, but my parents did not think they could afford virgin PE, so we booked a flydrive using Sunshine First with TCD and including an 8 seater minivan it was not much more than Virgin economy and no where near as much as PE. Once it was booked I started reading bad reports on TCD here (along with those good ones of course) and tried to keep an open mind but I have to say that I had some concerns. Totally unfounded now!!!
This was definatly our best flight to Florida ever - PE is not a patch on Sunshine First the staff, the plane, the food (oh the food - see menu's below), the entertainment I could not fault one thing - took of on time outbound and considering the change in security only 55 mins late inbound (although I did note that the 8.30 Manchester flight was delayed until 4.15 am and have not had a look yet to see when it actually departed).
The staff were very helpful and especially on the way home kept us all informed and gave us up to date information on what was allowed in hand luggage and what wasn't - on the day before we flew home we overheard a virgin rep at a Disney resort telling passengers they could not have anything electric in their hand luggage - this included the kids PSP and Gameboys, no mobile phones - just your travel documents, money and maybe a book - no food, no sweets etc. We had all the above in our hand luggage and although my sons bag was subjected to a more indepth search (not a problem) nothing was removed from our hand luggage!!!
So overall we would use them again as the service was excellent - I am not saying this would happen now in light of new security regulations but we were driving out of Sanford airport less than 40 mins after landing, we have never got out of MCO in less than 1 1/2 hours before.
So to the menus
OUTBOUND - Starters - Chicory and lime fillet of Chicken with creamy waldorf salad and tomato chilli chutney or Fresh leek and saffron soup with chives and croutons. Main Course - Seared fillet of beef with a green tomato chutney, red potato lyonnaise, roasted mediterranean vegetables or Mango Tikka Masala Salmon and pilaff rice, served with a bean, leaf spinach and tomato hot pot or Mixed seasonal vegetable risotto with seared asparagus and fresh parmesan. All served with assorted warmed bakery rolls. Dessert - Deep filled Lemon tart and Salsa of summer fruits, followed by STilton and Cheshire Cheeses, quince jelly and grapes, tea or coffee - we were also served with afternoon tea.

INBOUND - can't actually find the menu at the moment but it was just as good

hi

we just fly cattle class but found tcd just as good as virgin considering we saved £500 per person on our flights.

glad to hear you had a great time.

Great to hear another positive review, glad you enjoyed the flight and it made the holiday even better overall :goodvibes

I would try TCD, but they are still considered chartered (think thats the ones like TCD and First Choice, could be scheduled - I've know which way round it goes) which means they seem to be delayed alot more than the likes of Virgin and also they fly into Sanford which is quite a way out from Disney.

Im not sure if TCD and First Choice offer a twlight check in from Gatwick like Virgin or a downtown disney checkin, but theses are two major factors that help us on deciding to fly Virgin.

For a small extra charge (£5 pp) you can check your bags in at the TCD in Lake Beuna Vista Factory Stores from 7am - 12pm on the day of your return flight.

Gatwick airport have extended their twilight check-in to include TCD/Excel airways passengers, providing your flight is at 12.00 or before. Opening hours are 4pm to 10pm, no extra charge.

With both of these, all passengers have to be present, and you cannot use Gatwick's twilight if you are collecting your tickets at the airport as you have to take these with you at time of luggage drop.

HTH :goodvibes

I am so glad I have read your thread like you I have heard lots of bad things about TCD and was worried about the flight but know I have read what you have to say I am looking foward to our flight with them on thursday :thumbsup2

Thanks interesting to know, if they could just work on their delays I might even consider flying with them. :)
