Travel Arrangements

As a D.V.C member who ownes a travel agency many of the questions asked by both members and visitors to the site alike are travel related,where can i get cheap flights where can i stay for the first night (these have been recent posting with similar appearing on a regular basis).We all know that member services offer a limited or non existant service to British members so the contracts that they enter into are for U.S. MEMBERS ONLY. leaving us out in the cold.If the level of support was high enough i would be willing to offer a travel service to members and if this support was strong enough i could approach several airlines with a view to obtaining contract rates for flights,accomodation and car hire thus benifiting all members.I have thought along these lines for sometime but convinced my self that the interest would not be there,however it seems that some dedicated service would be of help however it needs the support of as meny members as possible in order to get better rates from the airlines and others. I would welcome the views of those who would be interrested by posting a reply on the notice board regards ian

Sounds good to me but as you say it needs a good number of us to show interest. Have you any idea of the initial numbers you would need to make this viable?

We're still seriously considering becoming members of DVC, and would most definately be interested in supporting your idea of a contract with airlines for UK DVC members. It would be the perfect solution.

We have been to Disney 5 times, our last trip during the recent Easter hols and only just found out about DVC. We went along to the meeting and totally fell in love with the idea. We are just trying to weigh up the cost of travel to the US and see whether it is cheaper to invest in DVC as apposed to taking package holidays.

We are hoping to go again in August 2005 and Will keep you posted on our decision.

We would definitely be interested.

We are travelling in October this year which also seems to be a very difficult time to get flights to tie in with school hols. After much deliberation we decided to book flight and 3 nights RPR accommodation with Virgin hols.

Not a particularly cheap option but getting my flights to tie in with my DVC accommodation was my main priority

must be a good idea...I always shop around for flight only or fly drive prices, we go twice a year and have never payed more than £350. We have booked Virgin for only the second time for Nov 2004 as I got a good price of £300
So it will always depend on what deals you can get with the airlines.We have just returned with US Airways where they were overbooked for the return flight so we volunteer to stay over and got $800 cash and overnight accom and upgraded to business class......not a bad deal

Thanks to those who posted a reply in order for the major carriers to sell contracted airfares the have to have a minimum of 500 seats and going by the response this would not be attainable. Recent quotes qiven to me were in the region of 233 sterling(subject to change and availibility ) plus tax on British Midland ex Manchester valid to 15jul04 to Orlando mco car hire could also be available at very attractive prices.Again thank you to those who responded if i can be of further help email me @ hamiltonhogg@aol.com regards ian

Hi Ian,

Shame about the lack of response although I wonder what percentage of DVC owners know about the DISboards? If only you could get hold of the DVC mailing list for UK owners!!!
.Then you might get the required numbers interested. It would also be useful to know how many Uk DVC'ers there are.
