Hiya,

Sorry for these stupid questions!

I booked two weeks in May with Virgin with the car thrown in. I am looking to book the car insurance here:

http://www.insurance4carhire.com/usa_canada_31.asp?subRefID=0&curID=1&langID=1&refID=852&pageID=44

I'm a little confused as it says: Covers the Policy Holder, who must be the person hiring the car, and all additional drivers named on car rental agreement

I am lead passenger, but would also like the wife to drive some of holiday too. How do I incorporate her into the car rental agreement? Or is she automatically added as an adult? Virgin website doesn't seem to state.

Also....

Looking at holiday insurance. The AA is only £54.54! Which is about half the cost of our last trip?? Feels a little too cheap!

Again, am I missing something??

Apologies for me being Dopey! :rotfl:

You add additional drivers at the desk on arrival (about $12/day) unless you have a rental where additional drivers are included(still do at the desk but no fee)

Very few people buy these policies, it is possible you turn up in Florida and they say its not adequate cover, you would have to stand your ground if you are sure it is adequate. They will probably want a higher than normal retention on a credit card.

This route is probably cheapest way but consider the hassle is anything goes wrong, having to come back home and deal with a claim instead having their policy and just handing back the keys.

compare with cost of renting with someone like USrentacar, Hertz or Alamo with their all inclusive cover, some include extra drivers. Will be more but worth it to me for ease.

If you are still going ahead with one of these policies buy thru Quidco, 20% cashback http://www.quidco.com/insurance4carhire-com?ac

Travel Insurance, if you have no pre-existing conditions its not expensive, we insure thru Insure and Go their top policy at about £150 but they have 5 levels of cover from about £50/year. Just make sure the policy includes the level of cover you need. Also make sure you have gone for worldwide cover, some cheaper policies don't cover USA.
