We usually take very easy trips and I can normally do it all myself using an online site BUT we are needing to do a bit more complicated trip this time and I think for my sanity having someone else do it would be soooo much easier.

So my questions, where do I find a travel agent? I know dreams unlimited does Disney which of course is on our route but we have a more complicated trip so its more then just there.

Any ideas on where to go for help? I used to have a TA that we liked in the mall but since the online sites have taken off they went out of business.

TIA :thumbsup2

Sending you a PM with a link for the one I use. Not sure if it would be considered a referral so don't want to get either of us in trouble.

I am so irritated right now I cant even sleep. So not only do we have a more complicated trip to begin with but as I was looking into car rentals I discovered something. So I can rent and return to the same location for a week with unlimited miles for just under $300....but if I rent in one spot and return in another it spikes the price to arounf the $800?!?!?!?!

Am I missing something? Someone please explain the car companys logic to me. I kinda get that now that they "know" you will be driving a bit they will charge you like crazy but really?!?!?!

This only adds to our already complicated trip. So mad :headache:

Personally, the extra costs for one way rentals makes sense to me. Lets say a rental site keeps 10 cars on hand. Someone rents one and returns it to the same spot, they still have 10 cars. Someone rents one and returns it elsewhere, now they only have 9. Depending on how "special" a car it is (ie: minivan, convertible, etc), might make it more difficult (meaning more expensive) to get it restocked.

This has no basis in fact, just my guess. BTW, are you a member of AAA? Have you thought about using them as a TA?

As far as the car rental, just google coupon or discount codes for all the possible car rental places you'd be able to pick up from and see what you come up with. Last July, my girlfriend rented a full size car near Wrights Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio and returned it in Norfolk, Virginia. She only had the car from Thursday to Saturday, unlimited mileage and it was somewhere around $300-350. She reserved and cancelled a few times, with a few companies before finally sticking with that deal.

Sam Gordon, I get that but we are renting/returning from two major airports so I would think that would be less of a problem? I was thinking more like they "know" the miles will be put on if we do a one way so they are just using that to get more money. Does that make sense?

Oh well I think I just let myself get one plan in my head and once that happened these changes just frustrated me.

We just ahve to decided, spend $500-600 more or an extra day plus hotel driving it back. It would save us a few hundred but we need to decided if its worth it.:confused3

AAA, I will look into it. May be worth the membership this year with all its extras. Thanks!

littlezar, do you remember which company she used? Maybe its just something I need to call and do rather than trying online.

I looked at a few online and they all jumped to around $800 once they knew about the one way.

TIA

A travel agent will have all car companies right at their finger tips and will be able to tell you who has the best rate without you going to individual car companies. I'm sure you have a local agency. Give them a call.

You can pick-up and drop off in most cities in Florida without a drop off charge. Also, some cities in CA. Other than that, yes, you will have drop off charges if you are renting and dropping off in another city.

Ok so a TA will have the lists for the drop off/pick ups that I can use with no extra charges or should I call the car company? I just figured since my pick up and drop off were two big airports it wouldnt be a problem.:confused3
