We are hoping to book our first trip to WDW for this Nov....on that note, we don't know where to start. Do most of you book through a travel agent??

If someone could point me in the right direction as to a great company to work with I would appreciate it.

Thank you!

We usually book our trips on our own since we make alot of changes resorts, days, dates etc. It makes it easier we can contact disney directly witout any worry. With booking through a TA you have to contact them and then they have to contact disney so on and so on. I personally didn't have a good experience with a TA but my MIL's TA is great.

This is her website.

Hello!

When we went last September, I booked my package on the Disney website!

I then booked my plane tickets on JetBlue's website and then, the car rental on Alamo's website!

It worked great!!!

Enjoy!!!

I booked my package through AAA. (I got a cheaper package than booking through Disney, but it just depends on what is offered at the time by Disney) I did my own arifare, and car rental. TA's will charge you a fee for each person for airfare, so it was cheaper for us to go on the website and do it ourselves.
You can check out travelocity and places like that as well.

I personally booked through Disney. Easier that way. :) Although the DH claims it's because I'm a control freak and I have more control over the situation this way. :lmao: He's probably right.

I have done it both ways, our first two trips, I did everything. While I like looking everything up, there were some points in times that I really didn't want to do it....getting up early to make adr's. So this year I am using mouse fan travel, beci is my ta. I found out about them on allearsnet.com, so far so good, and she has been great about anything I ask her to do.

We did ours through a TA, and everything worked out great. I did all my own research on where we wanted to stay, when,Etc. Called the TA and told her how much, where and when, and what options we wanted. Even told her what flight we wanted on. The only thing I directly did was make our ADR's.

She did a great job:thumbsup2

I am in the pre-planning stage of our next trip for sept 2008. We have made 5 trips before and always did it all myself. This time I'm considering using AAA for the percent off. That scares me a little because I too am a control freak. In the past I have changed our packages several times because the offers from Disney keep changing. For instance We were booked and them free dining became available for the dates we were already booked. I just dont know how a TA will handle making changes like that for me. I guess I will weight out all my options and book our trip.

If you keep track of all of the specials and stuff yourself you can do it yourself, I always have. Just be aware that if you book through Disney and then some special deal is offered for your time frame Disney will NOT automatically give you the lower price. A TA keeps track of that stuff, but if you do it yourself then you don't need one.

I used to be a travel agent, back in the olden days when booking everything yourself wasn't so easy. :)

I honestly don't see a reason to use a TA for WDW. It's easy enough (and much more fun) to do everything yourself. I'd guess that most TA's don't get excited about changing ressies for lower prices because it cuts into their bottom line, so most probably don't. I say this because for every person on the DIS who researches every detail, there are probably 1000 people in the general public who just book and never think of it again. Believe it or not, some people don't even know that you CAN get discounts.

An "earmarked" Travel Agency or a "Disney Authorized Travel Planner" should have the most up-to-date information concerning promotions etc.

We used www.buildabettermousetrip.com and they were great. They do custom touring plans and all commissions are applied towards custom tour planning services.
