Travel agent gifts

I just received the gift from Dreams Unlimited that we usually get in our cabin. Our cruise is Nov.30 and the gift basket came in the mail today. I am just wondering why it was mailed instead of leaving it on the ship. Has some policy changed?

DCL no longer allows outside vendor deliveries to the ships. Happened about a year ago.

Well, the gifts are for those cruises out of Port Canaveral.

Did your travel agent actually purchase those (items you received in your room) through the "in-room gifts" option on the DCL website?

This was different than the castaway club gift disney leaves in your room?

Hmmm. I don't know where they bought it. I don't remember seeing it in the in room gift options. But unless the travel agency is getting the gifts at cost, it doesn't seem to make financial sense to buy thru in room gifts.

Yes. Agent gave us a backpack with water bottle and playing cards. Castaway gift was a totebag.

I believe buying through "in-room gifts" is the only way to get a gift delivered to the stateroom. Earlier this year DCL put restrictions on outside deliveries. So the options for TAs to give something "onboard" are limited.

I don't see the particular gift we received available for purchase online so the agency must have some sort of arrangement regarding their gifts
