Its happening in Quebec so it will happen here within the week I would hope.I wish it were sooner rather than later. Talk about fiddling while ON burns![]()
Truckers etc haul food goods & medical supplies etc across the border both ways. You cannot close the border so easily and continue to effectively fight this. Not sure why Americans are being exempt. I may be missing something though.
Perhaps because community spread is already an issue.
I thought they meant only Canadians coming from the US could enter, not actual Americans. Same as those coming home from the Caribbean, Mexico, etc.
No Foreign Nationals allowed to enter.
i***** EDITING TO CLEAR UP SOME CONFUSION i was typing what the anchor was saying as the reporters asked question specifically about the US border and the words that are now in quotes are not mine******Not sure why Americans are being exempt. I may be missing something though.
We are a country that primarily exports natural resources & imports goods - we cannot do this without continued trade across the border. We will need the flow of food stuffs and medical supplies coming from the US. This is mainly done via transport truck. You cannot close the border so easily.I actually have the ongoing press conference running in the background. Currently the border is still open for Canadian citizens and permanent residents as WELL as US citizens. Meaning no one else can use that border to enter our country. The answer to why seems confusing "our countries are closely integrated" ??
The thing that caught my attention was Trudeau saying, very clearly, NOW IS THE TIME TO COME HOME
Two more cases in Halifax; a man and woman in their 50s and connected to one of the three original cases.
Yes. And...my daughter’s swim club is still training in Orlando. (My daughter stayed home). Shocking to me.I actually have the ongoing press conference running in the background. Canada has closed its borders to non Canadians citizens (except Americans). Only Montreal, Toronto, Calgary, and Vancouver are accepting international flights.
Yes, I'm aware of this fact and agree with it, i was only relaying what i was hearing as it was actually playing out. I was literally typing what i was hearing for those who were questioning what is happening. None of that was my own thoughts other than the very last line "what caught my attention"We are a country that primarily exports natural resources & imports goods - we cannot do this without continued trade across the border. You said « the answer seems confusing ». I thought you were confused. He’s the PM (and I personally have no love for the guy), but he’s not going to come out and say « yeah well, if we don’t let the Americans cross we’re royally screwed. ». I thought the reporters were being deliberately obtuse. Sorry if I misinterpreted your post.Yes, I'm aware of this fact and agree with it, i was only relaying what i was hearing as it was actually playing out. Not without getting into a pissing contest with a certain x reality star you can’t. We are in a very tenuous position that we need to negotiate carefully. It’s a freaking minefield.I'm sorry, but they should shut it down to Americans, too. They pose just as much risk. And, honestly for the US, vice versa.
You can easily allow transports through, without allowing general tourists etc...
