Trash the Dress

I really really considered it but I think my dad would kill me :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

No WAY!!!

Some of the water ones are ok, but i still don't think i could do that.

Yeah that one is a little extreme. Not as much as this one though:

DF says that one is photoshopped. and now that he mentions it, it really doesn't look real... :rotfl:

If you look up 'trashing the dress' on YouTube, they have some gorgeous photos ! One of them is like a music video, where she is in the water and looks like a water angel.

There aren't too many videos on YouTube :happytv: of this, so you should be able to do a quick search and find the ones I mean. These videos are amazing! I so want to look like them in a video.

I am going to the David's Bridal $100 sale and am getting a dress I can trash there, and then preserving my wedding gown. I still look at it this way - it's still part of my wedding, I'm (hopefully) only going to get married once, so why not? I think it's quite the fun idea and can't wait for those pictures! I don't know how to post links or else I would; you should be able to type in 'trashing the dress YouTube' and get the videos I mean.

My cousin trashed her dress. Her, her husband and the wedding party jumped into the pool and also went into the ocean. They had fun but this isn't something I would do!

Note the distinct lack of screaming and flailing!

I don't think I could do it either- the $100 dress idea is a good one, though! And I have to admit, some pictures in the surf (what was that movie? Blue Lagoon?) with you and your hubby would be super-romantic!

The water pictures are kind of pretty...in a lady of shalott or Ophelia sort of way... don't think I could ever do it to my dress though...

lurkyloo, the star wars pic is a hit with DF - looks like we are adding that one to the wish list!

I love the whole idea of Trash the Dress. Check out http://www.trashthedress.com/ for a lot more shoots. There are some amazing photogs doing some great work with brides. My wife is actually up for it for our 1 year anni back at WDW (we were married in November) but is worried that she may not be able to fit back into her dress.

My bridesmaids jumped in the pool at Saratoga Springs after our reception. The groomsmen and my FIL jumped in as well. I contemplated it but didn't...

Surprisingly, no. The lifeguards were cheering them on along with the people who were poolside! They even slid down the waterslide that's there, everyone cleared the way for them. It was ridiculous. The guys all opted for the $5 insurance when they went to get fitted for their tuxes. The tuxes got returned a little wet, put nothing that would make them damaged.

I loev the looks of some of the people in the pool. Like "what the....?" As for the girl on fire it looks pretty real to me, but a guy I went to school with does special effects and sets up stunts for movies now. He could set up something like that for me if I wanted to, which I SO do not! They coat you with this gel stuff that basically acts like a barrier between the fire and your skin. It gets hot but you don't get burned. Still, my dad was a firefighter. If I saw something like that I'd be running up to her with an extinguisher or a bucket of water or something. As for rolling in the mud -- I won't even do that in play clothes!

Vayleen - those pics of your bridesmaids and groomsmen in the water are great! Were you mad that they did that? lol. It was super cute.

My grandparents have a cabin on the Illinois River and there is a waterfall behind the cabin that I am hoping to be able to get my pictures at. My cousin is a photographer and I'm hoping we will be able to get him to do the shoots. My future hubby(I can't wait to call him my husband!! I call him that once or twice in my head and I get all excited about the wedding day and spend way too much time on these boards when I should be on the treadmill or working on job hunting .... darn the dis!) will be in jeans and a white t shirt (because he is such the hottie when he wears white!) and I will be in my $100 gown.

Well cool then. You got all your beautiful pictures and had some fun. Looks like a beautiful wedding to me!! :-)

Well, I'm the odd ducky out! I fully intend to trash my dress!! :woohoo:

My poor mother is a little saddened because she wanted the silk if all I was going to do was ruin it anyway... And it's even more painful as I wore a couture gown!!

I'm currently collecting pictures I like to show to my photographer.

I love trash the dress! I saw some very cool pics from some brides that got married in Cancun, taken on teh beach. Seems like a lot of people who do it are doing it for some intersting pics, and dont wear their "real" wedding dress. Its a less expensive white dress.

I love them! Its a trend, like boudoire (spelling?) pics were for a while. People just like having interesting pics! Some of the brides that did wear their real dresses on the beach in the water, had them dry cleaned after and they are fine!

I dont think Ill be setting myself on fire any type of dress, but I not opposed to getting in the water! :0 you only live once
