We are cruising on the Magic out of Port Miami mid February. We will fly in the night before the cruise and then fly out the afternoon it docks.

Any thoughts/tips on hotel to stay at the night before and transportation to the port? I have heard Comfort Suites Miami Airport provides a free shuttle to/from the airport, and then free transportation to the port. They will pick you up when you return for a small fee, but it sounds like you are brought to the hotel and then the airport.

I am a little cautious on what time they drop you off on the day you leave and how it meshes with scheduling your check-in. Any tips or advice for staying and transportation to this port? Thanks!

Have you looked at Hampton inn. They have at least two hotels that has transportation to the port 15 dollars a piece. After the cruise you want to do Disney only 20 dollars and if you have a participating airline you don't deal with your luggage. Remember nothing is free if they say free you are paying for it in your hotel price. Comfort suites is higher just looked at a dummy booking. But don't know how much better they are than Hampton inn as I never stayed there. The 15 dollars will add up quick thou if you have kids.enjoy

Yeah...we have kids...and actually we are traveling with 4 other families. I am the one doing the footwork on the research.

You can call the morning of check-in to get put on the port shuttle list for the time slot you want the next day. The port shuttle is great - super efficient and well run. The airport shuttle, on the other hand, can have a long wait if a lot of people arrive around the same time.

Just saw that you're travelling with 4 other families, so is that like 10-20 people? I think Comfort Suites only has 1 airport van shared with a small motel (but most everyone is going to Comfort Suites). It probably fits 10 passengers. At least that's how it was last November.

The port shuttle is a medium-sized bus and fits a lot more people. But with such a big group, you'll definitely want to call ahead. Maybe even the day before check-in see if they let you sign up.

With a group that large, I would look at the Homewood Suites Blue Lagoon Miami Airport and then either see if their shuttle can do a group transfer or contact a local transportation company and reserve a mini bus.
