We are taking a (gasp!) Carnival Cruise after our Disney vacation (Wilderness Lodge). Does anyone know of a shuttle service or something familiar that travels to the Carnival port from either the resort or the transportation center? Or do you think it would be easier to take the Magical Express back to the airport and take the shuttle from there? Any info is appreciated especially from those who have experienced this same situation!

It would be cheaper to take the ME back to the airport and pick up a ride from there. There are several companies that will pick you up either at the airport or at your resort. It would cost approximately $50.00 more to be picked up at Disney. Approximate charge from the airport would be around $200.00 roundtrip. There are a few cheaper and quite a few more expensive.

Actually it is easier to have the car service pick you up at your resort, but cheaper the airport way.

We are going with Carnival in a couple weeks , we are going back to the airport and taking a shuttle from there.. Is 58.00 each person around trip.

I don't know how many are in your group. I would guess 4. The prices I estimated are 1 - 10 persons depending on the vehicle. The prices I gave are a roundtrip figure, so if you are a larger family you start saving money on the shuttle transportation at about 4 by taking a car service which prices by vehicle rather than per person.

A car service is like non-stop air transportation. No waiting around for anyone else. You get your luggage, get to the vehicle and you are on your way to the port. When you get off the boat you find your car service driver and you are headed back to the airport. No waiting around for others to get off. Car service is well worth the extra you might spend or save, in the personal service you receive, including transferring with your own group, no waiting around for transfer and the vehicle you are transferred in. SUV's have become very popular in Orlando because they provide room for the passenger in the vehicle and plenty of room for luggage.

Car service transportation is quite different and more personable than the bus transportation the cruise companies try to push.

I just saw a memo that Disney cruise lines is going up to $69.00 per person from MCO after 11/1. So a family of 4 would pay $276.00 for roundtrip transportation to the Port and return to MCO aboard a BUS. You can find car service for around $200.00. You can still save money with only 3 in your group. Just think if you had 10 in your group and paid $690.00 for BUS transportation and a car service would charge you something around $200.00.

You can decline ground transportation service by Disney/Mears when you sign up for your cruise.

you could rent a car...probably your most inexpensive option. There is a Budget Agency in Downtown Disney and you could return it to the Budget near the port. There is a shuttle that will take you to the port once you have turned your car in.

Or you could take ME to the airport and rent a car from a rental agency at MCO instead of schlepping to Downtown Disney and then you would have more options of agenies to choose from than just Budget. I believe that there is also a Thrifty and an Avis near the port that will shuttle for free to the ship after your car is turned in.

We always rent ~ for our family of five, it's much cheaper than Disney transportation or a towncar/transportation service. We have a full size car reserved for our trip in January for $35 total, one way.The return trip is a little higher, about $50 total. HTH

:cool1: I agree that renting a car is the way to go. Hertz will pick you up at WDW and take you to their location on 192 in kissimmee to pick up a car. They are also about 2 miles from the pier and offer shuttle service right to the ship after you drop off the car. That's why they're #1. After returning from the cruise, they pick you up at the pier, take you to the Cape Canaveral location and you can pick up your car to drop off at MCO. I use them all the time.
