Transportation to/from WDW to Port Canaveral and from PC to MCO

If you’re cruising soon, this is no longer an issue. With the start up next week, the port doesn’t open until 1:00pm. Anyone arriving earlier than their pat will not be allowed to park and turned away. (All castaway levels have to have a pat now) The bus will probably arrive by then too. We leave the end of august and are under these new guidelines too. I’m platinum but had to have a PAT.
Wow, this seems surprising especially if they plan to do testing before boarding. How are they going to process everyone in a shorter amount of time? I guess they've practiced it in England, but those ships were at quite a reduced capacity. Maybe they aren't doing any testing before boarding? I admit I'm having a hard time keeping up with all the requirements.

it should be interesting to see how this works. I’m glad I’m not the first cruise out. I’m on the 8/30. Yes, I also have information overload. I can’t remember where I saw things anymore.

Disney has tents set up for testing at Port Canaveral right beside the parking garage

At this time, DCL is only testing unvaccinated passengers at embarkation.

To me it makes sense to strictly enforce access by PAT so there isn’t a big jam up of crowds in the terminal, especially with some waiting on test tesults. But we all know how well DCL [didn’t] enforce PAT in the past, so it remains to be seen how that will play out.

We rented once and will never do it again. We had an early port arrival time and were staying at the Dolphin so we decided to rent. It took over 2 hours to get a shuttle from Alamo back to the port. There were 3 ships in port so this probably factored into it. A taxi keep coming by offering a $100 ride.

Sounds like a nightmare scenario. I'm weighing all the options. I have a car booked, but can always cancel and book transportation through DCL or private carrier. Still trying to decide. Thanks.

It's a good idea, if you get a rental car, to stop by the port, drop off all bags and passengers (besides driver), and then just the driver returns the car. It's often much quicker/easier for a single person without bags to catch the shuttle to the port than a family hauling all their luggage. Just have the driver be sure to keep his/her own ID/boarding info on them to get into the terminal once he/she gets back.

^^^This is the way we always do it when returning a rental. As a single rider without luggage, I have always been able to hop on the next shuttle leaving the Alamo location to return to the port.

I just have a car rental for the week on Hertz points and for $40 we can just keep the car at our hotel from the night before that does its own shuttle.
