Hello-

Is there a way to get dropped off directly at the countries in Epcot? We have early reservations at Akershus and was wondering what the easiest way to get there would be. We are staying at Contemporary.

TIA!

As far as I know your best bet is to take Monorail to TTC, switch to Epcot monorail, go in main entrance, and then hoof it to Norway. This process really will not take that long! We just got back and did similar scenarios for 10 days!

No there isn't. You get dropped by the monorail near the front gates or walk to the gates from the bus and walk in from there. I would go with the monorail, jump on for one stop to the TTC and switch monorails to the Epcot line, and drive in. You will have to go through FutureWorld to the World Showcase and the Norway complex. Have a great time!

Your only other choice would be a bus from the contemporary to the Boardwalk and enter EPCOT at the international gateway. Then walk to Norway.

There are no buses from the CR to the BW, and the Beach Club is closer to IG than BW.

The Epcot monorail opens at 8, so that would be an option for breakfast later than 8:30.

If you need to be there earlier, I would suggest walking to MK. Look for a cm wearing an orange safety vest in the bus loading area, and ask if they can get you a bus to Epcot, or at least to BC. Start out for the MK at least 1 1/4 hours before the reservation, to allow time for the walk from the front of Epcot or, worst case, BC to the restaurant.

Taxi to the Beach Club, then walk to the International Gateway, in, up the ramp, halfway around World Showcase Lagoon to Akershüs.

I was wondering if this would be quicker than just being dropped off at the front gate.

I did the route in Google Earth and from where I think a taxi would drop you off its .64 miles from the front gate and 1.07 miles from the Beach Club if you walk through the countries and .86 miles if you around the "front" of the world showcase.

The problem is that you can't be dropped off right at the IG and its a third of mile from the Beach Club.

I also checked from the Boardwalk and its about the same or even a little less since I think its a straighter shot.

There may be shortcuts through the resorts but I'm not sure if they are easily found.

If you take a cab, it's going to cut off a lot of the time it would take to use the monorail....have to monorail over to the TTC (and subsequent wait times at the CR), then transfer to the Epcot line, again, with subsequent wait times. Then the ride to Epcot (about 10+ mins), through FutureWorld, about 15+ mins, and over to Norway, about 10 mins. So, you would need about an hour doing it that way.
If you take a cab, from CR to BC, the cab would be about 15 mins, tops. Then walk to the Gateway, about 10 mins, then over to Norway, 8+ mins...about half the time.
When arriving at BC, you would walk through the lobby area, out the rear door, facing the lake. At the sidewalk, go left and keep going up the hilly area, and down to the International Gateway. Once into the park, head to Norway...I usually go right at the bridge, but it's pretty equidistant going either way at this point.

If it's before park opening, there will be a rope and a CM preventing you from walking to the right, by way of France, to Norway.

The "straighter shot" is from the back of the Beach Club to the IG entrance of Epcot.

I rechecked Google Earth and its almost exactly the same distance from where I think a taxi would drop you off at both resorts to the IG.

I'l try to figure out how to post the pic with the paths drawn to see if I missed something.

ETA: Beach Club is .04 miles shorter

Also "straighter shot" was not the best term to use. Either way it looks like its a slightly shorter path form the front of the park if you compare it to going around the "Front" of the WS. I would think though most would go through the counties which is much longer because of how the bridge is set up around the IG.

Yes those are the paths I took. If you look at my PP I updated it and the B&C is a little closer .04 miles, but no matter how you get to the IG, its probably shorter to get dropped off at the front of the park. I'm rechecking my paths based on where I think a taxi would drop you off. It looks like its on the way to the off site bus lot. I'll be back. :thumbsup2

This is how I'd go from the Contemporary, IF the monorail were running.

If I were taking a taxi, I'd rather get dropped off at the Beach Club, because I think the walk through an empty World Showcase is prettier than through an empty Future World.

Ok I double checked.

.64 miles from the front of the park from the Taxi stand.

.84 miles from the Beach Club being dropped off at the front door and walking to the left (.20 miles shorter) and around from the IG.

Now there may be time savings or costs going through the IG vs the front gate that may effect the actual time.

As posted above though you will be ushered around to the left and not the right through the World Showcase at that time.

The left is the shorter way!

**Didn't see your previous post until after I posted this. If one could walk to the right around World Showcase past most of the countries, that would be the most scenic walk - although I love walking past the UK and Canada.

Yes my posts are purely empirical.:thumbsup2

I really didn't realize until I looked at it from above how much further its is to the right. Its because once through the IG, to go to the right you have to go across the bridge which is up a bit and a little roundabout way to go.
