Transportation to Disney 24 hour event - round the clock?

We've never attended a 24-hour event at Disney, but when I found out it landed on my birthday, I felt we had to go - that's pure kismet!

Gotta some questions. Our kids will be going with us and I'm not sure how long my youngest is going to last. I booked a monorail resort so we can go back and forth to rest throughout the day and night.

I'm wondering about Disney transportation. Do the monorail and boats run around the clock? If we wanted to return to our hotel at 3 am, for example, what transportation will be available? Or, would the Contemporary be the best option, since it is walking distance?

Secondly, what quick service will be available after midnight?

And finally, what is the likelihood if we head back to the resort for a rest in the late afternoon, that the park might get so busy they might close to onsite guests? And should that happen, would they re-open the gates once the park clears out a bit? Just wondering for when we might split up. If my son and DH head to the room for a nap, it would suck if they couldn't get back in!

Thanks! Can't wait to rock our Disney side!

They'll have transportation for as long as the parks are open. There are various stages of closure for the parks, and onsite guests can get in up through the last one (no one gets in during that one). I don't know if MK will hit any of the closure stages that day, though.

While we were at the 24 hour party last year they hit capacity in the evening. I posted on another thread we were at a complete standstill going into adventure area for bout 15 minutes, noody moving at all! Capacity closures happen more often than your aware of, alot arounf the holidays. And it doesnt matter if your. Resort guests. If its full, its full.

Yes, I saw your post, which got me thinking. Wondering if I should cancel dinner at Narcoosees that night? I tried for BOG and CRT, but of course, no availability. Also wondering what might be available for Quick Service? I suspect something similar to the hard ticket events - Cosmic Rays, Lunching Pad. Not exactly a fancy birthday dinner, if you know what I mean. Still, no place I'd rather be with my 3 boys!

And how they did the ride closures during the night.

Thanks so much, HopperFan, this was both helpful and interesting! I know it may not be the same this year, but I love that they ran late parades! And the breakfast locations were exactly what I was looking for.

Can't wait. Hope we make it to morning! Would love to see the sun come up over Tomorrowland!

We have MK as our RD on this day, so will the buses start 1 hour before park opening, so 5AM? Gonna be an early morning...:rolleyes1

I hadn't even thought of some of these, glad someone has! Lol. Can't wait to rock our Disneysides!

I have to say the end of the night was the very best! If they do it the same you are in for a treat.

Around 4:30 am we got to the Castle for the All Night Dance Party. They had the Celebration floats there, the stilt walkers and tons of characters and they were dancing up a storm. Some of them had some good moves. Then you traveled down Main Street with them heading to the exit for the Kiss Goodnight. I still get goosebumps thinking about it. The characters on the train station (inside), all the crowds in Town Square, the castle in the background the the sun begins to rise slightly. So cool! Then everyone has to leave, no monorail so we had to ride ferry boat (there might have been resort monorail) and we picked side to watch the sun. Wasn't the best sunrise but it was so cool. They actually have you out before it's up too high. I've been on Main Street when the sun came up for a Half Marathon so the first ones in, now kinda watched it as the first ones to leave...

PS Don't forget to meet Mickey & Minnie in their pajamas - that is a rare treat!!

This thread is very helpful!!

I know this is a crazy question, but we are staying at WL. Normally transportation is on those little boats, for MK. Do they run all night?? Or will we take a bus??

Does anyone know when the actual list of ride availability and restaurants will become available?

I think the boat trans. from the resorts dont run till sunrise due to the fog from the humidity. Then if the fog is still bad they wait till the sun burns it off.

It may have been due to bad planning but last year we didnt know the ride/restaurant schedule till that day when we got our flyer during entrance. You can make adr's for the normal park hours but nothing after 10pm if i remember right.

I'm excited for this as well. Interesting that most rides are closed an hr before the park closes

I've heard rope drop on Friday is good because it's not crowded, but then I hear if you leave and think about coming back at 4pm it's already packed.

I want to leave and come back but don't want to leave at 12 noon and not be able to come back til 1am to avoid crowds. Hmm. Decisions.

THIS! And, I'm wondering what to do if one of my kids (or DH for that matter) calls it quits. To ensure an easy trip back to the resort for the tired, we shortened our POR stay, and added a few days at the Contemporary... Walking distance!

Anyone else doing the same?

I want to go opening - 10 am or so……. then will probably pop over to the Studios for some Star Wars stuff. I do not want to return to MK at around 2-4 am, and remain until the kiss good bye thing, at 5:50 am…….

I need to sleep sometime though, I hope I can go to sleep sometime, maybe between 5-midnight or 7pm-2am for a nap!
