My aunt & uncle (and cousins and their friends) are traveling to WDW in March. They are staying at Pop Century and not renting a car. They would really like to go to Clearwater Beach one day and are wondering if there is any public transportation besides taxis that they can take to get there.

There are 12 of them, so they would need at least 3 taxis, so it would be an expensive endeavor.

Anyone know of anything?

Thanks!

I don't think there is anything that will take them over and wait for them to bring them back other than rental car. They would use one or two taxi vans and yes that would be expensive.

In thier situtation I think renting a car would be the only solution because there are no buses that go to Clearwater Beach from WDW and a taxi to there and from there would be very expensive.

Call Mears Group Transportation at : (407) 839-1570 They can at least give you the prices for what you need to do, and you can decide from there.

Mears does not have mini busses, which is what you need, but Mears does refer to other companies who have vehicles that may fit your needs better.. Chartering any size bus for a day is not cheap, but is far cheaper than paying for 2 or 3 cabs to hang around.

If there are 12 people wanting to spend the day in Clearwater, want to move from A to B to C when they choose, then charter a minibus. To determine the cost factor, figure 2:5HR to and from ORL RT + your stay time in Clearwater.

I would think you are talking an 8 to 10 hour charter to make the day worthwhile. Mears has hourly charter rates, for vans and busses.

All I can say is call and explore.

Try "Carlsward Transportation" I'm sure you can find their website. They have mini buses, and are very dependable, and reputable.

Wow! Thanks for all your suggestions! I will look into all of those. The only thing I had found was a bus that picks up in Orlando and stays in Clearwater for 6 hours and then returns to Orlando, but that was $50 per person!!! :scared1:

Thanks again! :thumbsup2

That sounds like one of the sightseeing tours. There are a few companies that run sightseeing tour over there, but that wouldn't be my choice. I would either do the charter or a one day rental.
