Well, we booked the November 7 night western criuse through a travel agent, following suit with ~ 6 other families, should be a blast. We have 2 boys 10 & 7, we've all been to Disney World several times this will be our first Disney cruise.

I was looking into the shuttle service with the agent and the shuttle from the airport is ~$60.00 per person (round trip). Not having an alternative, I booked it. Then I got to thinking, man I just spent $240.00 to get to and from the port. There's got to be a better way. So I called a few car rental places and.......

Through Thrifty Car Rental, I can grab a car at the Orlando air port, drop it off at their Cape Canaveral location, and they will shuttle you to the port. When we get back, I can do the reverse. All for a fraction of the cost.
Besides I'm going to be getting a car anyway for a day or two B4 the cruise.

Oh yea, I did cancel the other shuttle.

Welcome aboard! You are getting the hang of this rather quickly! Great find.

It's nice to have freedom to stop and see the sites as well as save some money! Good going!

I was wondering the same thing. I am staying at the pop century prior to our cruise. I did book the disney transportation, but since I didnt book the land sea package and did it myself, because I wanted to stay at a value resort, I would have to get my own shutte from the airport to pop century, then find a way to get to the carribean beach resort to pick up the disney bus to the port. So I am thinking of getting a rental car instead. I paid $177 for the transportation and I can get a rental car for less than that. My only question is, how much is it if I leave my car at the port? I hope that what I wrote makes sense. I am on the 4 day disney wonder cruise in July. :cheer2:

hawaii5o (and anyone else with this question):

If you decide to remain with the Disney Transportation (we always do because there are only two of us, and we don't drive and it's cheaper than a limo) it's very easy to take a taxi from one Disney resort to another with all of your cruise luggage. We just did that in December, from Pop Century to the Beach Club to get the bus. I can't remember for sure what the price was, but including tip it was less than $15.00 (that was how much money I had in my pocket, and I handed it to DH to pay, and he didn't ask me for any more, and I know he didn't have any cash since I had his wallet!).

There were a lot of taxis right outside the door. We asked at the front desk the night before, and they said there was no need to ask ahead, they're always available!

We'll be doing the same thing for our cruises in November.

thanks for the info la37 and bethc1952. I have decided to do the rental car. I think it will come out better in the long run for us to drive. Our flight on sunday is at 6:00 pm so if we take the bus back to the airport we will be sitting there for a good 5 hours or more. We can find something to do down at the Cape. Thanks for your help :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Thanks Tarzanman,

Yep, I frequent a handful of boards, mostly guitar / musician sites.
Its the best thing since sliced bread.

Peace !

We are turning in the car, then getting another when we return.
The person at Thrifty said they do it all the time.
