My brother and family are looking for the most convenient way to get from the airport to port the day before the cruise and then after the cruise to DisneyWorld. It is a party of 8 people. 2 of the people are older ( my parents) and don't get around real easily, that is why convenience is more important than cost.

At first I was thinking renting a car to get to port and then doing Disney transfer afterwards but when I went to add the transfer to their reservation, it said that transport from the cruise to resort was only offered on certain cruises.

I've never heard such nonsense. What has gotten into the web sites? I'd call DCL or my TA and forget the web if you want DCL transfers. I've done well over 20 cruises, and they have always run buses from Port Canaveral to the WDW resorts. At various times, only certain resorts had service, but as of 2010, the bus transportation serves all WDW resorts.

HOWEVER...DCL bus transportation for 8 people would be $280 ONE WAY. Your elderly folks would need to climb on the bus, potentially wait while it filled, etc. You might find a towncar/limo service more convenient.

I don't know what kind of car you can rent that would hold 8 people + luggage, and again, car rental has some hassles. However, since they are going to the port area the day before, your options would be a towncar/limo service or renting some sort of vehicle. Their hotel might be able to direct you to a shuttle service. I know there is one that serves the port area, but we've never used it to go from MCO to a port area hotel.

Thanks- I will give Disney a call. Do you think a private limo/van would be more convenient? Our passporter lists a couple of companies ( ***********s and Happy Limo) of course my passporter is a couple of years old.

Check mousesavers.com for car service companies. IMO this is the best way for such a large group.

I totally agree.
We're only a family of 5 and generally for us a limo is the way to go.... if it's from MCO to port then port to MCO it always works out less expensive with limo.
(if it's only MCO to port because the cruise starts somewhere else and ends in Florida- like our panama canal cruise and transatlantic) then we just rent a vehicle for the ride to airport but for you even that won't be as economical since you aren't a family of 5... you're a group of 8. Also usually it's cheaper for us to rent a vehicle and drop of at MCO- but for some reason we've found in any other case the "drop off" fee plus vehicle big enough for us and our luggage comes out close to what a one-way trip with limo would cost. And then add in that it's way more convenient and less hassle)

Absolutely limo/van would be more convenient than renting vehicles or taking DCL transportation. No doubt about that. You get dropped off right up front at port and simply walk in, picked up in the same area. It's front door service without waiting on others to fill up the bus/etc. I would highly recommend it for your group.

The limo/towncar is definitely the way to go (in my opinion, anyhow). The only downside to the limo is that you'd have to claim your own luggage at MCO. Of course, there are luggage carts to help, and the towncar driver would assist as soon as you are outside of baggage claim. It will be a lot cheaper and a lot easier--especially in terms of getting in and out of the vehicle.
