Transportation to and fro... What am I missing?

I don't know enough to know if this is accurate, but this link takes you to a very cool subway style map of disney transport options. I find the format very understandable. http://www.wdwfocus.com/img/map/wdw-transport-map-full.png While resort to park transportation is fairly obvious, that doesn't help me when I'm trying to decide whether we want to hit AK in the morning and then go directly to blizzard beach or swing back through our resort. And the forums aren't all that useful if I'm trying to make last minute changes in plans while at WDW. Perhaps the experts can say whether the map is accurate. It looked to me like the creator was taking comments so if there are inaccuracies, maybe suggestions could be made for improvement.
I looked at that map recently. It was accurate as far as I could tell.

It doesn't take specific hours of operation for each service into account though, which can throw you off.

Maybe FW to DHS wasn’t listed because they give you the alternative options other than the most obvious one? Do you really need an app to tell you to take the bus from DHS to FW?? Furthermore, it lists all options possible. Which is why the car “magically” appears there I guess? That route is an odd one thou. Cause i guess someone would just take the car from DHS to FW.

When you develop something, you need to write it as if every single person that will be using it knows nothing about the subject.

Something that doesn't list the most obvious solution isn't worth using.

How do you get to Carnegie Hall?

I like that map a lot more than the OLP "wizard". It seems to be accurate and exhaustive, including parking lot trams, walking paths, etc. But the good thing about it, its completeness, is also probably its biggest flaw. It's just a lot to take in unless you really study it for a while. It definitely gives one a better understanding of just how massive the WDW transportation system is.

The OP has created a thread in the Transportation Forum where some good and hopefully easy to read advice is being posted in response to specific transportation questions.

I've recommended against that site and app for a few years now (and all the pros on the Transportation board do as well). That example above certainly clinches it for me, and looks like things I had found in the past. That particular advice above would be a total mess in all 3 cases.

We took a bus from MK directly to DTD this past January.

How do you get to Carnegie Hall?

Practice!

Ok so you might have been on this Magic Bus that hasn't existed before (maybe it does now) but that's not relevant to my comment or the example the other person gave, since none of those options involved a park to DTD.

The thing is, it's straightforward to someone who's experienced with using it. For someone new, it can feel like a game of Bamboozled (sorry for those not familiar with this "Friends" reference).

That's why I highly recommend the Transportation Board/Sticky.

Would you like to pick a Wicked Wango card or SPIN THE WHEEL OF MAYHEM?

:rotfl2:

Bamboozled

Oops, I quoted you by mistake! The post after yours said buses don't run between parks and DTD.

I've never seen a transportation veteran recommend that site.

No, they have to include it all if you have a site like that. If they don't, then they are useless.

They don't though.
Well this one did. I had read here for years that they did not so I asked a CM on the way out how to get to DTD. He said 'Just get on the bus that says DTD' and there it was!

What time was this? After park closing?

No, middle of the afternoon. The way the CM said it so matter of factly made me think it was nothing unusual.
Well, this only reinforces what I already thought then. Disney transportation is complicated, and no one in the world knows everything about it :)

I'll be back there in 2 weeks. I'll check it out.

I thought the reason for no bus from DTD to MK, is they did not want people circumventing the parking fee at MK. So maybe there is only the bus from MK to DTD, but not the other way around.
