If I drive and park at Animal Kingdom, and then take a bus to Epcot to see illuminations will I be able to get a bus back to Animal kingdom to get my car that late at night?

You can, but it will require extra effort in locating special transportation
to take you back to a long-closed parking lot.

Much better to DRIVE from AK to Epcot.

Thanks. Just wanted to make sure that there is a bus that would take us back there. We don't mind a little extra effort.

Never did anything like that before, but I can tell you -- depending on the day and time of year, getting out of Epcot after Illuminations takes a while even if you're just boarding a bus back to your resort.
I'd never try to do something complicated when something "simple" works better!!
It's not that big a deal to drive from AK to Epcot parking. It takes a while to get out of Epcot and get to your car, along with thousands of other people. Getting to the buses is quicker, yes, but then you wait in line or wait for the bus to load and go where you want to go.
Do yourself a favor. Drive to Epcot.
::yes::

When I think of the thousands of people exiting Epcot after Illuminations, who are waiting for buses back to their resorts, I can only imagine that your request for an exclusive bus to take you to the closed AK parking lot is going to be low priority. Best advice is to drive from AK to Epcot. It's an easy drive.

I agree... I would take the simple route and drive to Epcot from AK!

If I'm not mistaken, you can't take the bus from park to park. Your going to have to go to a resort or Downtown Disney and transfer to a park bus.

There is transportation to go from park to park, the issue is that is AK closes at 7 or 8 and then the OP is leaving Epcot at 9:15, they won't be directing busses to AK at that time. Especially when (as pp noted) there will be so many people waiting for a bus to get back to their resort.

I agree with you, drive to Epcot.

Trying to get from Epcot to DAK at that hour-MAJOR HEADACHE!:)

BIG MISTAKE-don't try it!JMHO:)

I would absolutely bring the car with me to Epcot from AK. While it's possible to get a bus back to AK, it's mayhem leaving Epcot at that time of night and it could literally take you hours

If you are dead set on driving just once, drive to EPCOT and park and then take the bus to and from DAK. That way at the end of Illuminations, your car will be at EPCOT.

I agree with the others. Drive to Epcot. You won't have to pay the parking fee again. Just show your receipt from parking at AK.

There will not be any buses to AK after illuminations as they stop 1 hour after AK closes which will be before then end of illuminations.

I doubt anyone here is going to think it's remotely a good idea to try to get back to AK from Epcot after IllumiNations. The park to park buses aren't running after a specific park closes....so if you want to get to AK from Epcot, after AK has been closed for several hours, you probably aren't going to find a bus from Epcot to get you there.
I would really suggest that you just drive from AK to Epcot. If you don't want to leave from Epcot, then drive to the TTC and take a bus to AK, then a bus from there to Epcot. At the end of the night, take the monorail back to the TTC and get your car.
But it's not going to be a good idea to leave your car at AK and hope to get a Disney bus there from Epcot around 9:30pm!!

I have to disagree with every one here. I'm 95% confident that one of the 2 following situations will be true: either
  1. The shuttle between Epcot & DAK will continue to run until Epcot is empty (or nearly empty), or
  2. The guest will be directed onto the bus to AKL, which will drop them off at DAK after dropping off guests at AKL.
Neither involves major effort or a problem. The only issues are that there may be only one bus rather than the usual 2 shuttling back and forth (causing a longer wait), and that there will be no parking trams running at DAK, so there may be a long hike out to the car.

Is there a specific reason why you want or need to do it this way? Even if you can get back to AK with out much hassle, why spend an extra maybe hour getting back to your car?

You do know that you don't have to pay at epcot? Just show your receipt.

Drive from AK to Epcot. Show your parking receipt from AK at the Epcot parking booth and you will not have to pay again.

There will be no buses running from EP to AK after AK closes. Disney transportation will not transport guests to a closed park. Taxis will not likely be able to take you to a closed park since the parking lot entrance booths will be closed.

But, what if none of those situations occur? What time do they shut down the parking lot at AK?? I know that they continue running buses 'from' AK until there are no guests eating at Rainforest Cafe, but wasn't sure how this would translate to someone needing to get back to AK from another park.

I would either drive to Epcot, or not drive at all. Use Disney transportation to get to both AK and Epcot. Why mess around with leaving your car someplace that it may be a huge hassle to get back to?:confused3
