Transportation question!

We will be going to DL for the first time in July, and we be splitting our stay with the first 3 nights at the Candy Cane Inn and the next 3 nights at the Disneyland Hotel. How would you suggest we move from the CCI to the DL? Taxi? I don't relish the idea of pulling our bags from one to the other.

I think a taxi would be your best bet. Its about a 15 - 20 minute walk from CCI to DLH, but you would have to go through the security check and that could be a real pain with all your luggage.

So you go through the security check just once for the whole DL/DCA/DD area? I just assumed you did it at each park? (Not that I was planning on draggin my bags all the way there!)

Since the gates for DL and DCA face each other across a large plaza there are security checks on either side of the plaza that service both parks. You'd only have to go through security once and then through the other security exit, but then you'd have to walk the length of Downtown Disney to get to the DLH.

Yes, the cool thing about how DLR security is setup is that it is common for both DL and DCA so when you park hop you do not need to go through security each time.

However, if you have luggage and want to go through the Esplanade (the area between DL and DCA) Disney has a procedure for this. Last year we arrived at DLR one evening and wanted to dine at the RainForest Cafe so went straight there upon arrival - with our luggage. FWIW the RFC is quite close to the DLH.

After dinner we walked thru DTD with our luggage and came to security. We told them we did not want to enter the parks, just pass through the Esplanade to get to the CCI. A security member let us bypass the line - they never checked our luggage - and escorted us to the far side. From there we caught the CCI shuttle.

The OP could easily do the reverse. If you have a modest amount of luggage it would be quite easy. Take the CCI shuttle to DLR with your luggage. You will have still a 10 minute walk with luggage from the CCI shuttle to the DLH. If that is too much then a taxi will be your best bet.
