Transportation: Orange Lake to Disney

Soooo....we could always pay to park every day, but anyone have any other strategies?

Some people we are going with are staying at AKL--can we somehow park there and bus it over? I know you can park for free at the water parks--is that the best idea?

Any thoughts?

One of the posters works, or used to work, at Orange Lake. He said the vast majority of guests never leave Orange Lake. Do you even want to leave such a wonderful place for Disney?

Hitchhike and you wont have to pay for parking or gas. Probably the best all around answer.

We have owned at Orange Lake for 20+ years. We love the resort, and we TRY to have at least one condo day per visit. Otherwise, we are at Disney, 'the other park' or even as far as Kennedy Space Center every day. Anyway, you will find ways around paying for parking, like parking at DTD, or elsewhere. We always pay to park and enjoy our day! Other options seem like too much hassle, too time consuming, or just this side of legal. Enjoy Orange Lake! We do!

We played a round at Legends Walk last time (Par 3). We rented clubs, as we didn't bother to bring our own. It was easily played in under 2 hours and about as challenging as we needed for a lazy morning! Enjoy your stay!

Yes, you can park for free at DTD but there are no buses to the parks. Buses from DTD only go to the Disney Resorts. Now you could take a bus to the Contemporary Resort and walk to the Magic Kingdom but the stores at DTD do not open until 9 am so you are not going to make rope drop. Then there is the long trip back to your car at the end of the day when you are really tired. We just put an envelope in the car with a $10 & 4 $1 for each day we plan to visit the park. That way the money is already set aside and not something you have to dig out of your wallet. Now if your friends at Animal Kingdom Lodge have a car maybe they will come by and pick you up. Or if they don't have a car maybe they would be willing to register your car as their car and give you the parking pass.

There are ways around paying to park, but in the end it's far more time consuming than the ppl think. We just pay and enjoy our time at Disney. We have a time share at orange lake. When we go we stay pretty busy. We may only stay on property one day while we are there. Sometimes no days at all are spent just at orange lake. Enjoy your vacay

Buy an annual pass. It comes with free parking.

We usually just fork over the money for parking. It sucks, but it's the easiest. Orange Lake does have a shuttle, but it's expensive and only runs at specific times.
