Not sure if we will drive or fly for our June cruise. If we fly, we will want to try and hit DTD for a few hours before flying home on Sunday night. What are our best options for transportation?

Do we rent a car, if so, do you keep it the whole time you are cruising or can you rent for one day, turn in near the Port and then pick up another car for one day when you return.

Try and stay close to airport the night before cruising or stay where we can catch a shuttle to the airport and then use DCL transfer from airport to Port Canaveral. If you do this, could you take DCL transfer to WDW on the return rather than back to the airport?'

Any other suggestions on this transportation issue...

You do two one-way rentals. Both Avis and Budget have locations at MCO and near the port.

We have always used Avis but are trying Budget for our cruise in May. The avis location is attached to the Radisson hotel which is about 2 miles from the ship and is very convenient. The budget location is just a few blocks past the Radisson.

You can take DCL transfers one way ($25 pp) from the ship to the airport or to WDW, but that would not help you if you wanted to do DTD (because I think they bring you to one of the resorts...I am actually not sure if they will bring to DTD). But then you still have to get back to airport from DTD. Your best best is to rent a car for the day from Avis or Budget. Both will pick you up at the cruise terminal in their shuttle bus and take to the rental office. It is best of have an advance reservation.

Go to www.mousesavers.com and do a search for rental cars. There will be codes that you can use for the both Avis and Budget to get a lower cost. For example...we are 10 people and got a 10 passenger van from budget for only $79 for the day including tax. DCL would charge us $25 pp...so you can see how much we are saving. We will go to DTD or one of the parks and then return the car to airport and catch our flight at 7:30 pm.

The other option is a limo service to the port. Many people recommend Happy Limo, Tiffany Towncar or Youuride.net

But again, these would not really help you on the return since you want to have the freedom to come and go and to get back to airport after your day at Disney.

mmouse, I am guessing that Avis or Budget then have a shuttle that will take get you to/from the ship, etc. Thanks for your help. There is a lot of planning that goes into having a good time, isn't there?

Both Avis and Budget have a shuttle that will take you to/from the terminal. There's also a Hertz just a few blocks down from the Budget, and don't quote me, but I think Hertz may have had a shuttle service as well.
