Hi there!

I would love to know if anyone has any advice or stories regarding which transpo we should use from LAX to Disneyland. Our hotel is right across the street from the park. Should we use the Airport Bus, Super Shuttle, a taxi, or a limo? There are two adults and two small children who still need a carseat and a booster seat. I have heard pros and cons about each method, and I am going crazy trying to decide. Thanks so much for any insight you may provide.

How long will you be visiting ??
We got a great rental car rate. You could actually end up saving $$
by getting a car.

Hi, last year we took the airpoprt bus from LAX to the Disneyland Hotel. We were also travelling with two small children. The big bus was very comfortable, but the one big issue we had was that we missed the bus just as we collected our luggage. Our plane arrived at night when the busses run only every 2 hours. We had to sit at LAX with two small, tired children for 2 hours waiting for the next bus. I would almost recommend renting a car for the cost (especially if you have a late flight in!). You would then be able to venture outside of the Disneyland area and be able to go to the grocery store if you need anything for your small kids. :earsboy:

Have fun!!

We are using limo transfers for $152 r/t. It's actually cheaper for us as there are 8 people in our party.

Anyone have websites on these services? Ther will be 4 adults and 4 kids in our party and tons of luggage! The one limo co. could only take 7 people. I haven't looked into any others. We rented a van at WDW for the week and the worst part was, even with 2 adults and 4 kids we couldn't even fit with all the luggage. It was the most cramped 45 minute ride to the park. Feet up on bags, on laps, yuck. We just need a one-way from LAX to the DL Hotel. Any other suggestions? Should we just split up from my parents? They will be arriving a couple of hours before us at the airport? I know they don't mind waiting for us but I thought maybe they should just go ahead. Thanks!!

ABout how long does it take to get from LAX to Disneyland? We'd be arriving around 11am on a Tuesday. We already have flights booked into Orange County, but just found fantastic fares into LAX and am trying to decide whether or not to switch. Thanks!

I think you'd be surprised to how cheap it would be to rent a car from LAX. In my experience (I'll admit that it is limited) LAX has some of the cheapest rentals. Check Budget (my favorite). Use the entertainment rate (20% off). BCD: X443013. They will ask for your coupon/and or card sometimes. The Entertainment is $10 and free shipping at many outlets/websites (I just bought one from Ebay for $10 + $3.95 shipping. And it doesn't matter which state book you buy - the coupon is for any Budget location. My 2 weeks (14 days) stay in California plus tax and all is $198 (for a 4 door compact). You can't beat that - and you can just get up and go and not worry about whose picking and you up/time issues - and if you can - visit other areas if you have some time!!!!

We did the same thing. I called American and was told I could switch for a fee of $25-100 for each ticket (there is 11 of us). I wish I had waited!!!! :badpc:

I have the same question as SailorMinnie.
(Even though we did go to DL 4 years ago from LAX, I cannot remember how long it took! I just remember a nightmarish Supershuttle ride that took forever. I can't for the life of me remember exactly how long "forever" was though. :p )

So can anyone give an estimate of how long it takes to get from LAX to Disneyland via:
1. Supershuttle
2. AirportBus ? (not sure of exact name)
3. Driving yourself / renting a car (we're thinking of arriving either on Fri or Sat afternoon... not sure if difference in traffic, if one night is better than the other)
4. Limo service

Also, for just 2 adults, which one of those 4 options will be the best value? We'd like to save money, but also don't want to torture ourselves on a long shuttle ride, or getting lost driving in SoCal. :p

Oh, I forgot, I wanted to add that we only need one-way transportation from LAX to Anaheim. So, I guess the cost will be different than roundtrip.

TIA!

disneyberry -- The best value without driving would be the Airport Bus which is $25 per person r/t (you can also save $2 p.p. if you buy in advance by calling their office). The reason we went with a limo is because there is 8 people in our party and it was actually the cheapest option.

As far as travel time, it varies so much depending on traffic and whether or not your bus/shuttle leaves the airport right away or keep circling/waiting for more passengers. I think you should plan on an hour at a minimum and realize anything shorter than that would be pure luck. :)

I think the mode of transportation best for your party depends a bit on how many in your party, where you are staying, your timing coming in and out of the airport, and how long you are staying.

For 1 or 2 and perhaps 3, the cost of a limo or taxi is probably not worth the cost. Similarly for a rental car, especially if you are staying several days and are not planning on going anywhere besides DLR. For larger parties, rentals, taxis and/or limos are worthy of consideration.

When I fly, I usually travel with just one other person, so we have almost always taken the airporter or a shuttle. Based on my experience with both, I think the shuttle is worth the extra money. Furthermore, I will always fly into Orange Co. unless flights to LAX are significantly less. (In other words, there are more issues with the transportation from LAX than from John Wayne). I've had some long waits for the Airporter bus, long stops in Buena Park (I don't know if they still do that), and uncomfortable buses with broken windows. I've had some decent buses too, but somehow I remember the cold and dingy ones more. With the Airporter, you also may have to switch buses to get to your hotel. With the Supershuttle, there is a risk that you will be the last of 4 or so stops. Only once was this much of a problem for me; they delivered a party to a location that was a bit out of the way. There's rarely much of a wait at LAX for a Shuttle since they usually fill up pretty fast, and the Shuttles schedule your pickup back to the airport based upon your flight time. Shuttles have always picked me up on time for my return trip to the airport. Once I thought Supershuttle had scheduled an awfully early pickup for my returned flight, but I guess they knew what they were doing. We were flying Southwest, and lines at LAX for SW were huge! All in all, I've been pretty happy with Supershuttle.

Seems to me the travel time on Supershuttle to and From LAX was around an hour allowing for an average of a couple of additional pickups/dropoffs. It was definitely longer on the Airporter with the stop in Buena Park. It'd say a good 1 1/2 hours. Those numbers don't include the wait time for the bus or shuttle. Times can be longer during rush hour, but both are able to use commuter lanes.

Limozip.com?? I got a recommendation to use this company. Anyone here booked with them? They did give me a great rate for a stretch limo from the Port of San Pedro to LAX. We are coming in on the Magic and I wanted someone else to drive us to the airport. But, I don't want a van shuttle.

Since we are bringing our own carseats, we decided to rent a car. We rented from Budget, using a code from Mousesavers.com, and we got a minivan for a week for $200 plus tax. We will have 4 adults and two children. We also plan on going to San Diego, Universal Studios, and Knott's Berry Farm, so we will make good use of the vehicle.
