Transportation from Long Beach (not airport) to Disneyland?

Hi -

First, let me say renting a car is NOT an option.

Getting to/from airports isn't a problem getting a shuttle.

However, at one point we need to get from Long Beach (not airport) to Disneyland. Super Shuttle said they are not licensed to go to Disneyland.

Should we get a taxi? Are taxis easy to find and would they take us from Long Beach to Disney? Is anyone aware of another shuttle service that does non-airport transportation?

We don't want to pay alot for a fancy towncar. Also, it is only 2 people, so a towncar wouldn't be worth it for just us.

Thanks for any help.

I was not aware that SuperShuttle was not licensed to go to DL. I took them there from SNA a few years ago. Now I wonder if the SuperShuttles in each city/area are independent. They are the only shuttle service I am familiar with in that area, so I'm not much help there. Are you coming from the port in Long Beach or a residential area? As far as taxi transportation, I know there is a flat rate negotiated from Long Beach Airport to DL ($35 last Feb), but I would expect a non-airport taxi to charge close to $60 to take you from LB to DL. As for locating a taxi... I've always asked the front desk at the hotel I'm at to call and reserve a taxi for me. I hope some of this has been helpful :confused3

Hi -

The lady at Super Shuttle said they are "not licensed" to go to Disneyland - BUT I am sure it was in the context of my inquiry - which was to go from a NON airport setting (a hotel in Long Beach near the Aquarium) to Disneyland. No airport pickup or dropoff involved. So, they probably do go to Disney via the airports.

It seems that the shuttles just do routes that involve an airport for at least one end of your journey. That's what I was trying to figure out, if any will take you to/from your destinations if it does not involve an airport.

It looks like to get from our hotel in Long Beach to Disneyland, we will have to get a taxi.

Thanks for your reply.

Okay, I actually called SuperShuttle instead of just e-mailing. They DO go to Disneyland HOTELS but will not drop off at the parks. However, they mainly do airport runs so from Long Beach hotels to Disneyland is a flat rate of $126 since it's a special run.

The SuperShuttle guy told me most taxis will not do longer trips???????

Yikes!

Of course he'll tell you that. Taxis are his competition. It is about an 40 minute - can be longer drive from Long Beach to DL. Not very many miles, but they all want to take the freeways, and with So. CA traffic, it can take a while to arrive. All I can say for certain is a DL area hotel called a taxi for us to take us to Long Beach. It was a fixed rate, but almost twice the flat rate we had from Long Beach airport to DL (something about some local agency in Long Beach subsidising taxi transports to DL area - not critical info for me, so I didn't bother to remember the details). I don't know who the taxi companies are in Long Beach (try calling the hotel you will be staying at and ask them). I bet the hotel knows a taxi company that will transport you for a flat rate.

Hi -

I finally thought to call the hotel in Long Beach (before I read your recommendation). They will call and arrange a taxi or towncar for me once we are there - whatever I choose.

She gave me the phone number for yellow taxi cabs and a number for a towncar service. I will have to ask about a flat rate and see if that can be arranged. Thanks for the info. I appreciate it.

Oh, one more question. We will be traveling from Long Beach to Disneyland on a Monday in September - not near any holidays.

What would be the best time of day on a Monday to arrange transportation so we can avoid both the morning and afternoon/evening rush hour traffic?

Thanks.

From Long Beach to DL, usually before 7am and after 9am are pretty safe in the morning. In the evening, the really bad times would be between 4pm and 6pm.

Beware though, those are the worst times and sometimes it can be a crap shoot. However, since the renovations on the 22 freeway (the most likely route) were completed the drive is much more consistent since there are more lanes and a small problem can't cause a big traffic jam.
