What is the best transportation from the airport to DL, in terms of speed, ease and money? The resort packages offer the option of a motor coach or shuttle whats the difference? Would it be easier to get a taxi? There will be 5 of us, 3 adults, 1 teenager and 2 kids.

Thanks.

We (8 of us) just got back. Our TAs arranged transfers for us from LAX to Anaheim. It turned out the transfers were for the Airport bus. After 12pm, it runs only once an hour on the hour. (Between 10am to 12pm, it runs every half hour.) Our plane got in at 1:07pm. So you can imagine our long wait with a 9 month old, 2 5-year-olds, and an 8-year-old. To top it off, the bus was 15 minutes late.

My DH and I swore that we wouldn't take the airport bus to Anaheim again. In hindsight, we should have either:

- rented an SUV or minivan that would fit 8 of us.
- called a limo service
- used the Super Shuttle, which came around so often.

It would've been faster, and probably about the same money, given that there were 8 people in our party.

However, because we had our prepaid transfers, we were kinda stuck. I guess the airport bus is OK if your flight arrived close to when the bus would arrive and if you didn't have so many excited children who had been stuck on a plane for so many hours.

forgot to answer your question... the airport bus we took is probably the motor coach that you are asking about. The shuttle is the blue Super Shuttle that came around more often.

would taking a taxi be a good alternative. Again there are 5 of us.

when we went in aug 02 we used the Super Shuttle. They are a van service that circles the airport and goes to various places our particular van was for DL. I didnt get it on purpose its what came with our Disney vacation package. It was about 90.00 rt for the four of us, which for us was worth it to let someone do the driving. And the wait wasnt all that long. They also came to pick us back up at 5am when it was time to fly home. All in all we would probably do it again.

I believe the taxi would be quite expensive, even for 5 people. Like the above poster, I'd go with the Super Shuttle. Or, if you don't mind driving, I'd rent a car and then drop it off in Anaheim.

<font color=navy>I also recommend SuperShuttle. The Shuttle picks you up at the island in front of your terminal (Shuttle stops are marked by colored signs overhead), drops you off at your hotel, and then picks you up and drops you off at the airport again. Unless you're planning on driving to different areas in the Los Angeles/Orange County area, then the shuttle is more convenient.

All of the car rentals are located away from the airport, so you have to wait for the car rental shuttle to pick you up, go to the car rental, wait in line, if there is one, and then get a car. When you return, my experience is that it is quick to return a car, but then you need to take the shuttle to your terminal. It's more time consuming, and more expensive.

I was very pleased with them, and they were there to pick us up only, so we had no other stops along the way. I've booked several of my clients with them as well. It was nice from LAX, as the Super shuttle doesn't take reservations out of LAX. You might get a quote from them and see if the rate is equal. There were 5 of us traveling the last time I used them and I believe the price was a little less than super shuttle. They picked us up in a brand new suburban. Very comfortable ride.

Does anyone have a phone number or a website for the Super Shuttle?

SuperShuttle LAX website is

http://www.supershuttle.com/htm/cities/lax.htm

Supershuttle home page is

http://www.supershuttle.com/

Supershuttle LAX phone number is
800-258-3826

And I am another one who suggests Super Shuttle as well! We've rented Mini-vans for 3 kids and 2 adults which was just as nice but if you dont want to deal with the California freeways (can get really crowded really quickly) then the Super Shuttle is a great alternative.

Super Shuttle has its down sides too.. They circle many times trying to pack more people into the van.. then you have the joy of dropping everyone off along the way- not too bad for your arrival trip but the return trip to LAX sometimes can be a real pain.. we had only one hr before our flight since our driver was told to pick up someone at another airport and then drop her off in Redondo.. we got a tour along the way.. it took over two hrs (usually 45 minute trip) to get to the airport!!
Another option, if you are not in the mood to wait for other passengers, is to ask for EXLUSIVE service. You will be the only ones in the shuttle. For large parties it comes out to be less expensive ($82 one way) or close enough in cost to be worth the extra expense. Just ask the guy at the platform that you want Exclusive.. you might have to wait about 15 minutes for available van. When you reserve for return trip - you won't have to wait any extra. We had a very nice conversation with our driver - leisurely drive - plenty of time to have a meal and relax while waiting for our flight.

For this trip I am undecided.. Our plane arrives at 9 am - if it's on time we will need to wait until 10 am for airport bus. We may do a shared super shuttle to hotel and use the bus back to airport.

I appreciate this post!! My DD and I arrive at LAX next Thursday evening at 10:30 PM and need to go to Anaheim.

I guess Iwill just wait for the Super Shuttle. Anyone know the price?? Thanks

I just wanted to post a quick reply... we prefer taxis, its about $36 to DL from SNA (can't comment on the price from LAX) but well worth the few extra bucks over super shuttle, we are always the last to be dropped off at the hotel and and first to be picked up, leaving for an extended shuttle trip, and not fun when you arrive on a late flight,
They do offer the exclusive service, but when I reserved it, we didn't get it, the rep at the airport was too busy shoving people in vans, (of course we didn't pay for it either at this point)...

But on a positive note, if taxis are too much from LAX (again I don't know), then I think teh shuttle might be preferable to the big airport buses...
