Hi -
This is my first time posting so I hope I do this right.

I'm looking for advice on how to get myself, husband and 21 month old from the airport to the California Adventure hotel. We do not plan on renting a car because we're spending the whole time at Disneyland. We also will not have his carseat.

What is our safest option? Limo? Shuttle? Would any of them provide carseats?

Welcome to the boards!

We will be at DL in Feb (4 weeks today!) with our 18 month old DS. We are also arriving at John Wayne. We have opted to take a taxi from the airport to the hotel which we have estimates at about $30-40 for the trip.

We have decided to do so as by the time we arrive in Anaheim DS would have been on a plane/waiting for planes since 5:30 a.m. I do not want to have to wait for a shuttle to leave and wait for numerous drop offs at other hotels. I just want to get him to the hotel to let him run and get him some dinner quickly. Luckily with John Wayne being so close we are able to take a taxi.

I believe a shuttle is about $18 per adult roundtrip and the taxi both ways $60-80. I think that extra bit of money we're spending will save us a lot of sanity.

We are taking our own car seat with us.

Happy planning!

We are also flying into John Wayne in Feb and are renting a car from National EA for $92.71 total for a 5 day rental. DH likes the flexibility of a car and the drive during off-peak hours is not bad.

I took a shuttle out there when I went to collect my rental car - cost me $11 one way and was very efficient (only 8 people in the shuttle so if you have a family that has to limit the number of stops they can do).

However, as the airport is so close (20 mins) it makes a taxi not very expensive, especially when you have more than 3 people in the shuttle.

The only issue would be whather a taxi was big enough to carry all your luggage, but if arriving at the airport they should be able to direct you to one of those bigger taxi vans.

I was told when we made our reservations that if you take any kind of transportation other than a bus, your child will need to be in the correct car seat or booster. State law in California...I believe she said it was 660 law or something like that. Our daughter will be 15 months when we travel next month and we will not be carrying a car seat either, so we will be taking the Airport Bus. Better than risking a ticket.

May recollection from about a year ago was that the Shuttle was around $11 per person each way (no break for a round trip) and $36-40 I think for a taxi each way. Since the taxi makes no other stops, I would go for the taxi over the shuttle if I had 3 or more in my party. You may not have to pay full fair for the baby on a shuttle though, but I have no idea about the car seat situation. You might try www.Supershuttle.com to see if they have any info on their website regarding fares and car seats.

I just booked SuperShuttle for 10 dollars one way from the Airport-

I'm still debating on how to get back to the airport as SuperShuttle leaves DL alot earlier than I wanted to...

Airport Bus is pretty good but it runs pretty infrequently from JWA nowdays (www.airportbus.com)

 Oops, sorry swimrsal, I missed your info about staying at the DCA hotel,
but just in case anyone else may be interested:

Depending on where you want to stay, you might want to check to see if there's a hotel that has free transportation from both John Wayne and also to DL.
We're planning on spending four days in the DL area around Memorial Day and I've been checking into hotels near the airport that offer this. The one we stayed at a few years ago, the Best Western Orange County, does still provide free shuttles to both. It was a nice property then and I'm assuming it still is.
Since we're planning on spending another six days in San Diego, I'm hoping we'll only have to rent a car for the drive to SD and not pay for the car rental or a shuttle till then.

We used Best Limousines and Transportation 800-827-7411 or 714-375-9128.
His name was Dave he drove us all around Disneyland park before taking us to the hotel. He was a blast told me that I needed to get this and than he would see something else and told me we needed to get that to. It was a very nice ride with him.
