Transportation from ASMusic to Contemporary

This is a question about transportation within Disney. We plan to have PS at Chef Mickey's for dinner the day of our arrival. We will probably be settled in our room by 5:00 p.m. and will let the kids swim for an hour or two. I will probably make our PS for around 8:30 p.m. What is the best/quickest way to get from ASMusic to the Contemporary. The Unofficial Guide suggests taking a bus from our resort to a park and then catching a bus from the park to the Contemporary. Any thoughts on which resort would involve the least amount of travel time? I was also thinking of taking the monorail maybe on our way back to ASMusic for the experience. Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks!

If the MK is open, take the bus to the MK and walk over to the CR from there. Then take the monorail from CR over to Epcot and get an AS bus back to your hotel.
