Transportation for Park Hopper pass

Hi all,

We are going to be going for 6 days to the parks in November and will get the park hopper pass. Can someone explain how this works for transportation?

I realize from the MK that you can get the monorail to Epcot. How does it work for MGM and AK? Do they have buses to each of the parks from each of the other parks? Are there different buses for those staying on site than for the general public?

Sorry for all of the questions. I have never done a big Disney trip and am so excited about it. All we ever did was go to one park for one day! Nothing too much thought and planning had to go into.

TIA

There is only one transportation system. It's fairly elaborate, but there's no distinction between transportation for off-site guests, and transportation for on-site guests.

There are busses that will get you from park to park. Just outside the main entrace of each park are bus stops. Find the stop that is labeled with the name of the park you want to visit.

A few thing to mention about that though:

*I don't believe there is a bus from MGM to Epcot, and vice versa. There's a boat that will get you between those two parks. Between the United Kingdom and France pavilion is a walkway to the International Gateway. There's a turnstile there, and a boat dock. Wait there for the boat. At MGM, the boat dock is down and to the left of the turnstiles.

*If you take a bus to the Magic Kingdom, it will take you to the Ticket and Transportation Center; not the Magic Kingdom gates.

I usually rent a car, so I'm not too up on the specifics of using the transportation. I'll move this to the transporation board where I'm sure you'll get tons of helpful responses. :)

Monorails will take you to MK and Epcot. The TTC (Transportation & Ticket Center) is where you transfer between the two parks and between the parks and the resorts.

You can also reach the parks by boat -- MK, Epcot and MGM are accessible this way, from different launch locations. MK's boat leaves from TTC and various resorts, while Epcot and MGM are accessible from boats leaving from Boardwalk, Yacht & Beach, and other locations.

Busses between parks are available at all the parks -- resort guests and off-site guests use the same busses. Many of the busses require a transfer at the TTC, although there are some direct routes as well. For example:

To Disney-MGM Studios, from Animal Kingdom, you take the Studios bus.
To Magic Kingdom, from Animal Kingdom, you take the bus to the TTC, then take the ferry boat or Monorail to Magic Kingdom.
To Disney-MGM Studios, from Magic Kingdom, you take the Monorail to the TTC, then take a Studios bus.

There is. The bus from MGM runs to the front of Epcot while the boat service takes you to the International Gateway.

There are direct park to park buses from all parks to each other. The only catch is that if you're coming from or going to the Magic Kingdom, you will have to go through the Transportation & Ticket Center via monorail.

Downtown Disney only services Disney Resorts. There are no DTD buses to/from any theme park or the Transportation & Ticket Center.

There are *NO* resort buses from the Transportation & Ticket Center.

This all sounds so confusing...will it make more sense once we're down there?

The key to navigating the Disney Transport system is two things:

1 - Read the sign. Each bus has a bright orange LED destination sign on the front, above the windshield, and then another one on the side of the bus next to the entrance door. That sign will tell you exactly where that bus is going. The general rule of thumb is that if it doesn't say it, it doesn't go there.

2 - If in doubt, ask! But -- TRUST ONLY THOSE WEARING PURPLE PANTS. If they're not wearing purple pants, just run. Run far away. :)
