Transportation for Marathon weekend - Jan

I know there will be tons of busses around, but I'm curious if the folks staying at a monorail resort can take the monorail and if ones staying at Beach/Yacht/Boardwalk can just walk. Anyone know? I'm trying to plan our stay now.

The monorails do start running early enough to take them to the start but I cant' tell you exactly when. As far as walking from the boardwalk area...not so much. You can't walk through the park and it isn't all that convenient to get to the parking lot area without going through the International gateway.

Thank you VERY much for the response. I will just keep my reservation at the Poly. I didn't think you'd be able to walk thru Epcot without the park open. Hopefully the monorail ride works out. Thanks again

As already mentioned, you do have to take the buses to the start from the Epcot resorts. You can walk back to your resort after the race though (through Epcot if you have a park ticket). That's what we did this past January and it was a great cool down walk after the half marathon.
