What is the transportation available to get from Orlando to the Disney Cruise. Which is the best and is it simplier to use a towncar service.

I assume when you say Orlando you mean the airport. There are a number of choices. The Disney transfers are typically busses (although I have heard of people with DIsney transfers that end up on a Mears van). Depending on the number of people you have, a towncar could be cheaper than buying a bus transfer for everyone.

'Course, you could also get a limo! We are going to have a group of seven and are going in a stretch Excursion SUV limo! :earseek: :earsboy:

There are plenty of service providers to choose from -- some great, some good, and some lousy! Just look through this forum for recommendations.

We have been using FL Tours for some time now and the service has always been excellent. Andy (the owner) is an incredible guy who believes his customers satisfaction comes first.

FL. Tours is also the official transportation company of the DIS and by using them you are helping keep these boards available to all the members.

The DCL buses are all operated by Mears and have all of the pluses and minuses that come with that. I didn't see vans going from the airport to the port or from the port to the airport, only buses, but there definitely were vans going from the port to Disney resorts.

I strongly suggest you get into Orlando the day before your cruise departs, which means getting to a hotel then back to the airport to catch the DCL bus (unless you're at the Hyatt MCO). That's a bit of a hassle, but not too bad. Most of the hotels have free shuttles to and from the airport.

We used DCL/Mears transport on our last cruise and it was fine (well, except for the broken A/C on the bus). This next trip we'll be getting a van from Tiffany (probably) that will pick us up at our hotel. WIth six people going on that trip, we'll probably actually save money vs. the DCL/Mears buses. With four people on our last trip it probably would have been closer to a wash.

We are just renting a car and parking it at the port. We arrive the day before our cruise and, to be honest, I don't want to fuss with busses, shuttles, limos, etc. We will get the car at the airport, drive to WDW for one night, drive to the port the following morning, park the car and it will be waiting for us when we get off the ship to be returned at the airport.

Simple.
