Hello! I am thinking of booking the Archery Lesson for my DN in January. I am wondering what is the easiest way to get there. I am guessing from MK to go to Wilderness Lodge then boat over to Ft Wilderness? What do you think?

The Archery Lesson is supposed to be from 2:45-4:15. We have dinner ressies at O'hana at the Poly at 5:25. Is an hour enough time to get from Ft Wilderness back to MK then monorail it over to the Poly?

Thanks so much!!!

You can direct boat from MK to FW eliminating the WL stop most of the year, sometimes the route includes both. An hour to get anywhere on property is the general rule of thumb, you should have no trouble getting back to MK and catching the monorail. The resort monorail if I remember correctly runs what I call 'backwards'. You go all the way around from MK stopping at the resorts before you get back to Poly. If I'm not correct someone will be along to correct me.:thumbsup2 Regardless, you should have no problem getting to the Fort and back from MK and then to the Poly on your timetable.

Direct boat from MK to the Fort. Then the direct boat from the Fort to Contemporary and hop on the monorail to the Poly.

I am not sure if starting at the MK is the best way for your niece to get to the Fort or not. It depends on where you are coming from. Will you be at another resort, or in one of the parks? If so, it might be quicker to take a bus directly to the Fort from one of the parks.

And, just so you are clear, the Archery activity takes place at the Bike Barn, which means a ride on an internal bus, or a long walk from either the Settlement or Outpost.

Here's a FW map that shows the bus routes and the location of everything. The Bike Barn is in the middle of the campground:

For the trip to the Poly, I would take either the MK or resort boat, whichever comes first. In the evening, the Contemporary Resort will be the first stop for the resort boat. So, it would be quicker to take whichever boat comes first. You can catch the resort monorail from either the MK or Contemporary, and continue on to the monorail

It could take an hour to get from the Bike Barn, as this will require an internal bus, then a boat, then the monorail.

I would like to know more about the Archery lessons. Looking for a surprise for my teen DSs.

Thanks for the info. I've only ever been to FW to eat at Trails End so we boated over. I've never had to take the internal shuttle and know nothing about getting around there.

I am the planner for this trip and want to make sure I have all my ducks in a row for this. This will be my SIl, BIL and DN's first trip to THIS AREA of WDW and want to make sure I appear to know what I'm doing.:goodvibes

You can look up the archery lesson on wdwinfo.com. They have a section on it. It's 1.5 hr lesson and looks pretty cool. around $25.

Thanks again!

For anyone interested in the archery activity at the Fort, here's a scan from the information sheet provided at check-in:

And here are some photos of the actual activity:

As you can see, it's pretty basic.

But, I guess it would be a good way to spend $25 if you couldn't think of anything else to do with your money.

Thanks for posting the pics!!!

I looked at the map posted...and printed, but I am still unclear.

If we boat over, what bus do we take to the bike barn? Is there only 1 internal shuttle? I wasn't clear on the orange, purple, yellow coloring... and then if we bus over, is it a different internal shuttle? Will driver tell us where to get off?

Thanks so much! As I previously stated, my experience here is only to get off the boat and eat at Hoop de Doo or Trails end. We've never ventured further than that...

If you come from Magic Kingdom by boat, then you need to walk to the Settlement bus stop and take an ORANGE Outpost bus and get off at Loop 900, then walk behind the trading post to the Bike Barn.

If you are coming from Epcot, Animal Kingdom, or Downtown Disney
by bus to Ft. Wilderness and arrive at the other end of the campground then you need to take an ORANGE Settlement bus and get off at Loop 900, then walk behind the trading post to the Bike Barn.
In either case to leave the campground and go to the Poly, then return to the same bus stop you got off of in front of the trading post and take an ORANGE Settlement bus and get off at Settlement, then walk to the Marina. If a Magic Kingdom boat comes first, then get on that, then monorail to the Polynesian.

If a Contemporary/WL boat comes first, then get on that, get off at the Contemporary, then monorail to the Polynesian.

OK- Take a look at the map.

As you can see, there are three internal bus routes. They are designated by color: Yellow, Orange and Purple. When you arrive at the FW dock, walk toward Pioneer Hall, and continue walking past it. You can see the Settlement bus stop from Pioneer Hall. Just keep walking down the path and you will get there.

At the Settlement Bus Stop, you can take either an Orange or Yellow bus. The buses are not Orange or Yellow. They are standard Disney buses. But, the marquees on the bus will say Outpost Orange, Outpost Purple, or Outpost Yellow. This means that the buses are heading from the Settlement back up to the Outpost. Do not take the Purple Bus. That will not take you where you are going.

If you take an Orange Bus, get off at the bus stop by the 800 loop. It is marked on the map with a symbol that looks like a bus. From there, cross the street, and take the sidewalk that heads into the 600 loop. There is a little bridge that you will come to and walk across, and you will see the Bike Barn to your right as you cross the bridge.

If you take a Yellow Bus, get off at the 1500 loop bus stop (which is also marked on the map). From here, you would cross the street, and walk across the foot bridge that you will see right across from the bus stop. Continue to walk down that sidewalk, past the pool, and you will come to the Bike Barn.

Got it?

LOL- clkelley and I posted at the same time.

I have grudgingly admitted on many occasions that she is always right.

And she is right again.

But I have a very small difference of opinion.

While you could get off at the 900 loop bus stop as she recommends, I prefer the 800 loop bus stop. I think this provides a shorter and a more scenic walk to the Bike Barn, than the walk from the 900 loop bus stop.

Either way will get you there.

But my way is better. :thumbsup2 ;)

800.... 900..... whatever it takes ;)

lol! This is awesome! This is why I love the DIS!!! Very detailed and I totally get it now. THANKS SO MUCH!

We may also head over for the campfire/movie. By looking at the map it seems we could do as you recommended for that as well.

THANKS AGAIN!

TCD, Thank you after seeing the pics not sure if this is what we will do. Trying to do something special for DS16 and DS14. I think they would enjoy it but its not very long or very challenging for them.
