Ugg airfare is way high this year! So I was looking at driving vs. flying, but really the drive would only save $300, and it would cut a day off of my vacation as well. For us it is Western NY to Florida so like 19 hours of driving and the milage adds up to three months usual use of the car.
Driving kinda sucks cause we get there and DH and I are tired, we get home and DH and I are tired. DH always goes back to work the next day too so that makes it even tougher on him.
I'm thinking of sucking it up, but I may make a quick call to see if I can change my dates to get better rates by not flying out on a weekend.

I hate when I think I have a plan and then I watch it unravel in front of my eyes.
If I cut the rental car by a few days or entirely I am on even ground again with the budget.

I'd say suck it up and fly. You'll be in a better mood when you arrive to enjoy your vacation and a better mood when you get home. We drove one year(Illinois to Florida) and vowed to never do it again between weather and traffic.

We drove from MA and can I tell you I so so so wish we could have flown (last minute I wasn't allowed to fly for health reasons :headache:). In addition to the lost time, because we were pushing so hard to get there I was so tired by the time we got there and and just as tired when we got home and we drive all kinds of places all the time. Usually though we take our time driving and make the drive part of the vacation. If you can afford it suck up the xtra expense and fly.

Hi there. I see you stated if you can cut the rental car down by a few days or all together you would break even. Do you HAVE to have a rental car? Are you planning on doing anything other then Disney related? I know its nice to have a car, just to go off-site for shopping, food etc, but if you really dont have to go offsite, Magical Express would pick you up from the airport, bring you to your resort and you basically really don't need a car with Disney transportation. We used to drive EVERY year, from New Jersey. Once we flew the first time, I vowed NEVER ever to drive again, I would cut my trip shorter, rather then do that drive again. If you are staying off site, that may play out differently for you, but you could still utilize Mears to get to your hotel, and still really not "have" to get a rental car.

$ 300 for my sanity? :scared1: yup that is a fair price. Take the plane, and enjoy your vacation.

$300 isn't all that much money in the grand scheme of things. Did you figure in gas, money for food, entertainment, tolls, etc?

Fly, fly, fly!!! Enjoy and give Mickey a high five for me!

Bolded your words..

Fly Baby Fly !

with only 2 people, I would fly. Even if the cost is a bit extra, it is worth the sanity. We only drive when we have lots of people, drove down with 7 people both times. For two or 3 people, we fly.

FLY, can you get to SW, they have decent fares and they are offering 25. off with the coupon, I have an extra one, pm me if you can use it!

Have you considered a different airport? I found an airport that is an add'l 45minutes further than the airport we used last trip so it would be 2 hours drive each way and the tickets are $75 less per person r/t. Thats a good savings, you may want to play around with different airports and airlines I'd rather drive further to an airport than drive to Fla. Also if you rent a car keep checking the rates as your trip gets closer especially the day or two before you leave the rates come down, Nationals last minute special saved us money last trip, you can always cancel the car just before your trip if the rate is not where you need it to be. If you are'nt leaving the disney area you could grab a taxi if you need one instead of a bus if you are trying to get to a dinner ressie or get back to the hotel without the long bus line at park closing. Linda :)
