Price difference to fly into LAX vs Longbeach is about $100 less for LAX.
We will most likely be booking shared van, taxi, private towncar. Maybe a rental car. What is the price of a shared van and taxi from each port?
Will the $100 savings of flying into LAX quickly be eaten up by the cost to transport to hotel?

Interestingly enough, LGB is more expensive than LAX with Super Shuttle. We're flying into one and out of the other. I think it has to do with having more business at LAX.

You might want to check different shuttle companies for quotes since it can vary depending on the day of the week and time of day.

Our last LAX-to-Harbor-Blvd taxi was about 18 months ago. It was $110 including tip, plus a new credit card and number, and hours of hassle when our credit card was used to buy a Coach bag from an IP in the Midwest to an address in California, in a neighborhood DH and the cabbie had discussed (DH gets friendly like that, asking where people are from, where they live, their families, etc). Maybe it wasn't the cabbie, but that's the only time DH used that CC the whole time we were there. We won't do a private taxi ever again. Regardless of our experience, $110 is the answer for LAX to the DLR area for a taxi.

We've done Disneyland Resort Express (aka "DRE"), which has a per-person rate, and kids 9 & under are free. Not sure on your party's make-up on if this would be a good deal for you or not.

Super Shuttle/Karmel/etc scare me (I don't like passenger vans), so I don't know the prices for them.

When I was checking on this question last night (because we're looking at flying into LGB), people said it's about $40 for a taxi from LGB to Harbor.

With LAX being about twice the distance of LGB, my guess is the cost for transportation is going to eat the airfare savings.

Taxi from LGB to resort is about the same as SNA $40 to $45. Private services are about double the taxi rate.

The first trip we used the shared shuttle service and were very disappointed with the service and time it took to get to get to the resort. For our group the cost was more than a private shuttle service

If we aren't renting a car, we schedule a private service or take a cab. For the private service, I usually prepay before the trip. When taking a cab I request a YellowCab at the taxi area. I talk with the driver and set a "Flat Rate" with them for the trip to the hotel. From SNA the cost is about $40 to 45 dollars plus tip. For this I carry CASH.

For trips I never use my debit card!! I feel it's too risky for my bank account. I'm very selective where I use my credit card. At least with the credit card company you have better fraud protection.

LGB and LAX are very different. LGB is small and extremely easy to navigate. Take the time to do a MapQuest of some kind to see where they are in relation to the resort.

Recently took Supershuttle from LAX to Disneyland area. It was $17 per person plus tip one way. Do note if time is of the essence don't expect to zip through lax and right into your transport. The shuttle arrived within 10 min and my party was the last to board before leaving the airport which was perfect, but getting luggage at LAX took forever- we had 10(!) flights on our carrousel fighting for bags, luck of the draw there. We took Supershuttle because we wanted to get to the Anaheim resort area as cheaply as practically possible and I have no complaints. We didn't book ahead of time, just walked right up to the shuttle station outside the terminal and arranged it there instead (good thing as my flight was over 5 hours late).

My partner and I use Karmel shuttle from LAX to DLR round-trip for $94, which is comparable to the R/T taxi fare from LGB.

When I was pricing out the airfare and transportation to DLR, it seemed to come out within several dollars of each other. However, the arrival/departure times and selections were something that I took into consideration. I had greater choice and better times by flying into LAX than SNA.

Southwest recently had a sale and I checked the flights then and I still came out ahead by flying into LAX on a direct flight.

Check out Karmel. There is a $4 off per person per ride coupon around. My $94 round trip is now $78.

Yep.

Get a piece of paper and a pen, take a little bit of time, and work it all out for your exact trips to and from. See what works out best financially.

I destroyed a savings once; decided to fly into Ontario b/c it was cheaper, but didn't realize that the pricing structure for super shuttle was completely different than at LAX and SNA. LAX and SNA they have lowish everyone fares. But at ONT it was one bigger first person fare, then lower 2nd, 3rd, etc fares. DH flew separately than me and DS. So I paid the big fare, then DH paid it, too, instead of it being just lower overall. Then DH left separately from us. UGH.

Figure it all out for YOUR trip and then make the decision.

I like Karmel. I cannot even imagine taking a cab from LAX.

Does anyone know what the best shuttle is to use from Orange County to Disneyland. We can't use Disneyland Express because of our flight times :(

Leaning towards using karmel for transportation. Any idea how to use a coupon code on their website? I must be missing something haha

We hired a town car from lax to our hotel and it was 79$ including tip. we will be doing this again in 2 weeks when we arrive. We book ahead of time online. There are many companies to choose from, all with varying prices and services.

We booked with affordable town car company last year, we haven't booked for this year yet. Its on the to do list but haven't gotten around to it yet. They will email you an offer, wait, a day or two and they will email you back with an even lower price of about 5-10 dollars lower! :cheer2:

I couldn't get the coupon to work on their website. I made the reservations, got the #, waited an hour and then called to get it applied to our reservations. She was very nice about doing it. Apparently you can't do it on the website - which seems kind of weird to me.

We priced a town car with Excucar from LAX to Harbor Blvd and it was $119 one way.

Forgot to add, there is a fare estimator on the app to calculate the fare before you request a driver. They are aways around the airports ready to take your assignment.

What is the closest airport to fly in to? I googled before and saw SNA/Orange County....but now reading these I'm wondering if we are about to choose the wrong airport?

Not to be contrary here, but we always fly into LGB, and always rent a car. Why? So easy, and so many discounts on car rentals. last trip we got an economy car for 4 days- $90. even with the hotels parking charge of $9 a day we came out ahead of shuttling. Everything is booked, registered and paid ahead. You get off the plane and within a few minutes you're on the road.
