Transportation App?

I was sure when we last went (2014) I had downloaded an app that let me put start and end locations in and it gave me an idea of how long and the options for Disney transportation.

ie: We stayed at PoR and if I put Polynesian it would tell me to take the bus to MK and the Monorail or boat to Polynesian

Does this exist? Fever dream?

I thought there was a sticky thread in this forum for people to ask those exact questions. Maybe I’m misremembering?

It’s on My Disney Experience, not a separate app. Find where you want to go in the app (for instance Chef Mickey’s), and tap on it. View attachment 761096Once you do that, tap “get directions”

Amazing! Last time I don't even remember having MDE!

Do you find the time estimates decent? I remember "an hour from resort to park" but we always were well under that.

I find it tends to assume that if you are using transportation, that you are waiting for the next bus/ boat/ monorail to pull up. You will see wherever it says "board the bus" or "board the monorail" that it also says "bus arrives every 20 min." It assumes you are going to wait that 20 minutes for a bus to arrive.

I just checked to get from Beach Club to Chef Mickey and it says 52 minutes by bus. It's maybe a 20 minute ride by car, and maybe a 10-15 minute walk from Magic Kingdom (where the bus would drop you off) to the Contemporary. So assuming a bus is pulling in and/or loading already you could deduct 20-ish minutes. I say "ish" because there are times that even though a bus is in front of me, loading, it has not left right away.

I still operate by the "minimum of one hour from place to place" advice because even though we have info in an app, the mechanics and logistics have not changed over time. We left Beach Club 1 1/2 hours before an Ohana reservation and long story short, it ended with my husband jumping off the monorail at the TTC and jogging in the August heat over to Poly so we could check in on time. I'd rather be early, not rush, and sit in some AC than chance it again :)

Google maps under the transportation tab will give directions in Walt Disney world using Disney transpiration as well

I recall an older thread where someone posted a link showing the various transportation options between the various resorts/parks at Disney. It was best for figuring out what the various options were but that particular one never showed how long it might take. Seems to me that would constantly change based on traffic/construction/how busy they are and what time of day as well as a number of other variables. You might get to the bus stop where one has just left or you might get lucky and step onto the bus right before it is ready to depart.

Knowing the various transportation options are good for someone who has never been to Disney or hasn't been there recently. The posted times at the various bus stops were more of a reference as I recall from our last Disney trip. Most were never that accurate, doubt any sort of app would be any more reliable. I find things like google maps are good for mapping out a route involving a long distance. It calculates travel time based on mileage and what the speed limits on the roads are. Even our car GPS system works best for long distances. It doesn't take into account stop signs or taffic lights, so the time it might estimate for short trips around town are generally understated.
