Transportation and best day questions from newbie

Hi, I looked through the Universal threads and couldn't find anything on this topic -- please forgive if this has been discussed before. Repeatedly. LOL

We are coming to WDW in early December. We plan one day for the Kennedy Space Center, and one for Universal, the rest at WDW. The space center tour bus will pick us up at WDW and bring us back, but what's the best way to get to and from Universal? We are flying in from CA, will not rent a car, will use the Magical Express for our airport transportation. We plan one day at Universal with a park hopper ticket. The primary thing we are interested in is the Harry Potter stuff, and will probably spend the majority of our time there. Also, we are arriving at WDW on a Friday (probably on the late side), and thought we might spend Saturday at Universal to try to get the most hours, since we are only doing one day -- but realize Saturday is probably one of the busier days, too.

Any suggestions/advice for me? Thanks!

If you stay onsite at Hard Rock, Portofino or Royal Pacific you’ll get Express Passes which will balance out the higher crowds. I’d definitely consider it.
Uber or Lyft are the best ways to get between Universal and Disney, imo. If you don't like ride sharing then taxis are easy (just double the cost) or book a car service (also about double the cost but a better choice than taxis, I think ).

We won't be staying onsite at Universal at all -- we will be at Caribbean Beach at WDW for our whole stay. So, think it would be better to do Universal on a weekday rather than our first Saturday?

Any idea what the cost would be for Uber?

Weekday is better for December
Saturdays (if weather is good) brings in the locals

I've use Uber to get to Universal from my Disney resort several times and it runs $14-15 dollars each way. I always go to/from one of the Universal resorts but the parks should be in the same range.

Uber estimates are on their website. A sedan that would work for 4 passengers will run around $15-25 depending on surge rates.
I added a word to your post in my mind “spend Saturday [night]”. Onsite stats are usually good budget savers if you want Express Passes so my mind jumped there.
