I wasn't really sure where to post this, but I thought the Transportation board would make sense...
So here's my situation- DH and I have a reservation at Le Cellier at 8:50 on Sunday. EPCOT closes at 9:00, and MK closes at 8:00 but is having their late EMH that night. I've never eaten at Le Cellier, but I've heard to allow roughly 2 hours for your meal... if that's the case and we leave around 11:00, how do we get back to POP? Will there still be buses at EPCOT, or would the monorail still be running to MK for us to catch the bus there?
We've never been on the dining plan or relied on Disney transportation before, so this is all new to me and I'm a little

last fall we ate at Cape May in the Beech Club and it was 10:30 PM when we were done and we walked out goofing around and laughing and then it dawned on us OOPS:scared1: all the boats to HS were shut down and Epcot Illuminations was over and was dark up that way but we walked that way towards the back gates and two guards said no problem and let us thru and walked us to the front to the buses and got us safely to POP it was a fun nite...:dance3: Disney will not leave you stranded...:cool1:

It's not a problem -- buses will be available at the park entrance until the last guest has left the park. Park Operations knows you are there, and will pass that info on to Bus Operations.

If you're one of the last to leave, a bus cm will direct you to a waiting bus along with other guests going to resorts in the same general direction.

We attended a private party at Test Track, so by the time we got out it was almost 11PM, the monorail had stopped running, but we were instructed to go to the busses and they took us and another family back to the Contemporary.

It has never taken me close to 2 hrs to eat at LeCellier...especially later in the evening. I've eaten there more times than I can remember. But, in any case...the monorail should be up and running for quite awhile since it's EMHs at MK. If you have an 8:50 ADR at LeCellier, you should be out of there by 10ish, maybe a bit after if you linger. That should be plenty of time to get to the MK...especially since Epcot will only have closed an hour or so before that.

Yep, the Epcot monorail runs 90 minutes to 2 hours AFTER MK closes if it closes later than Epcot. The reason is folks will not think about closing times. So this enables folks that left their car in the Epcot lot to go get it after MK has closed.

Also, the buses from the TTC to Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom run after the last park has closed, so that folks that left their car in one of those lots can go get it!!!

Glad to know the buses or monorail will be available so we're not stranded! The car being left in another parking lot thing makes total sense, and I'm SO glad to know dinner shouldn't take us 2 hours! Thanks everyone for your replies :)

We were at MK during EMH, but our car was at Epcot. When we got to the monorail station the CM's asked, is your car at Epcot? We said yes, and they ordered an Epcot monorail to pick us up.

Just wanted to add that while I totally appreciate that your question is about using WDW transportation, there are always taxis available all over the WDW property and sometimes when it's late, you're tired, you really don't want to have to schelp someplace and wait for a bus, just head to the taxi stand (there's one right outside the entrance to Epcot, and bell services at all the resorts can get a cab for you fairly instantly if you want to exit on the World Showcase side).

The only place it doesn't work is at MK; you have to get to the TTC to get to the taxi stand -- but in a real pinch you could walk to the Contemporary and grab a taxi from there.

All of the above scenarios invole dinners or cars in other parking lots, etc.

What is the general "rule" of the parks? We will be at MK when the closing time is 1am and at EPCOT when the closing time is midnight. How long do the resort buses run (as a rule)? :confused3 It's not that I necessarily want to run each time limit to the very end, but I just want to know to be prepared.

If the cut-off time is one hour past closing time, do I need to be out at the bus stop by 2am (when MK closes at 1am) or I'm left trying to work some "magic" getting a ride back to CSR?

Sorry - never stayed on site before so this is new to me. I always went out to my car in the past.

Thanks!!

The rule is that buses will be run from a park as long as guests are known to be in the park.

Buses normally do not pick you up at resorts to go to a park (even to transfer) after park closing time but buses arriving at the resort and going back will pick you up so you can get your car at that park's parking lot. At some point buses stop coming to the resort so don't linger at Jelly Rolls (Boardwalk) or Boma (Animal Kingdom Lodge) too long.

There will be transportation available until every single guest has left the park.
