Transport to US/IOA from Disney resort

Usually we just book ourselves on that big Mears bus that picks up at the hotels early in the morning to take people to US/IOA and Seaworld/DC. I can't remember how much it is though - does anyone here know?

Either way, there are six of us going from Disney to US/IOA this year, split over two resorts, so it may be cheaper to go with a taxi. There are always taxis outside the resorts from what I remember, so BF and I were thinking about going down and seeing if we could get a six-seater to take us, picking up our parents from their resort on the way. We're at AKL and they'll be at CBR. Does anyone know how much the whole trip from AKL to US/IOA and back is likely to cost if we took a taxi?

We did consider booking a night at one of the US/IOA resorts so we could avoid having to purchase FOTL passes, but that just worked out a bit too expensive for the six of us compared to just buying to FOTL passes.

Bell services at AKL will arrange a suitably sized taxi for you.

On the Mears website (Disney only uses taxis operated my Mears) there is a fare calculator that will give you a rough idea of cost.

MK to Universal says $34 each way plus tip, but I would add a little more if you are picking up from two resorts

If you want to get to Seaworld, the number 50 Lynx bus picks up at DTD and drops off across from the SW parking lot - about $2 each way

I would suggest AKL to universal will be about $45-$48 plus tip, we have done this a few times.

From memory I think the mears shuttle is $18 return per person

I used the mear taxis last time in 2009. It was $30 return for Universal and then same for Seaworld going from POP Century. They're a little more now but now much and there were always plenty available, never had to wait.

When we went to The horror nights from port orleans last year we got a cab and it cost $30ish dollars there but only $25 on the way back, although the driver took a shorter route coming back

Did any of you who took a taxi have to call to be picked up from US/IOA at the end of the day or were there Mears taxis outside that you could take (I'm thinking from the end of City Walk)?

We only usually take a taxi once each trip to drop our luggage off at DTD on our last day so I'm not really sure what to expect.

There is a taxi rank at Universal - where the taxis drop of at the bottom of the stairs up to the entrance at the end of the moving walkway.
When we went there was chap there how would direct you the next available cab.
