Hi guys,
I'm staying at the Renaissance Resort near Seaworld soon and although the hotel provides free transfers to Disney and Universal, I have read in several reviews and forums that they are only at certain times and often before the fireworks have ended. I've tried to find info on other public transport to disney but have not had much luck. I've read somewhere about a Disney bus that costs about $1 but I've not found anything about this so I think its just a myth! If anybody has any advice I'd be really grateful.
many thanks,
Jo

I think you are looking for the Orlando's mass transit system, Lynx. I have never used it but if you do a search I am sure you can find out some reviews.

Also, here's the link to the Lynx wesbite.

You need to look up a car service or plan on transferring via Mears taxi. I am sure you don't want to travel on mass trans. after 2100 and especially a lynx. Not only low life on bus, but times it takes waiting and getting around.

The bus you would be using would leave the TTC, and then you can hop off, right at SW and cross the street to your hotel. I can't imagine what kind of low life is going to be on a bus that basically is leaving from WDW area. I've used it before, and found that mostly DIsney CM's were on it. Of course that was during the day...not at 9:00 at night. But, I can't imagine that there are any dubious characters on the bus..not leaving from TTC.
The cost is about $1.50 pp each way. You should be able to get it right out in front of your hotel if I'm remembering correctly. CHeck the schedule and see what times it leaves.
I just checked the website to see what time the last bus leaves TTC...10:18 each night going back to SW area.

You could be right and you could be wrong. The word here is caution.

I have taken the Lynx before and found it to be just fine, although we did not take it late at night- latest we took it was about 7 PM. I'll agree with Edd partially, it is a bit slow, and there's some waiting time involved, but we would use the bus again. I felt safe and comfortable- good airconditioning and they even had little TV sets with news and weather right on the bus. Not a bad deal for $1.50.

I suppose a lot depends on your comfort level with mass transit. I work in NYC and have lived there and take the subway daily, often late at night, and I'm not nervous about it. Regarding "lowlifes", there were a couple of folks who were obviously headed off to work at various hotels and restaurants, the rest were tourists just like us. I didn't feel threatened, but it wasn't nighttime, either.

If you decide you need a cab, there is a cab stand at the TTC. I know Epcot and MGM also have them. You can also get a cab from any of the resorts- there will either be a cab stand or the bellman will call one for you.

Good luck. I can't drive due to impaired vision and my husband is a stubborn New Yorker so we don't drive and have done several car-free trips. It takes some doing, but it can be done. Enjoy!

As someone who used public transit to get to and from a job in Atlanta, I somehow doubt that the MCO is going to be full of "low lifes" :rotfl2: Generally those bus drivers are pretty watchful and they have a line to call the cops so a lot of "low lifes" avoid mass transit just for that reason.

It's not always fast, but think of it this way, by sharing the ride you are being friendlier to the environment, plus at what a car service would cost you are DRAMATICALLY friendlier to your wallet.

I don't know if I would take Lynx to a lot of places, but this doesn't sound too hard. I mean you don't have to change buses like you do going to the airport.

I think EDD mispelled a word here. I believe he meant " low lites" not low lifes:laughing: as it could get pretty dark on those buses at night:lmao:

Sorry guys, being stupid here. The bus that leaves the TTC and stops outside seaworld for around $1.50 - is that a Lynx bus or one run by Disney - sorry for being stupid!!
Jo

bradk is right, as usual.
Two things to remember:
- Disney buses are free
- Disney buses do NOT transport Guests off-property (except Magical Express), and especially not to/near other parks :)
